Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall pattern: film club remains the most popular activity, while amateur dramatics declines substantially. You also include several relevant comparisons and approximate figures. However, some key data are misreported, which limits the accuracy of the summary. Musical performances rose to about 12 participants in 2010, not more than 40, and table tennis reached about 54 in 2020 rather than around 60. The description of martial arts as increasing significantly is also misleading: its figures fluctuate around the mid-30s, ending close to where they began. Your overview would be stronger if it highlighted table tennis’s sharp rise and its becoming the second-largest activity, alongside the decline in amateur dramatics.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and further descriptions of the activities. The reader can generally follow the comparisons, and phrases such as “Overall” and “Opposite pattern” signal relationships between ideas. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some movement towards more flexible cohesion. However, the overview sentence is crowded, and the final body paragraph groups several series together even though their trends differ. The transition “table tennis and martial arts increased significantly” obscures that table tennis rises sharply while martial arts fluctuates. Separate these trends into clearer units and use more precise links between sentences so the progression is easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of task vocabulary, including “fluctuated,” “levelled,” “surpassing,” “dropped sharply,” and “lowest point.” These choices help communicate changes over time, although some are used inaccurately or awkwardly: “levelled up” does not describe the film-club figures, which dip and then rise, and “positive change” is vague. There are also noticeable spelling and word-form errors, including “approximatally,” “perfermance,” “partocipant,” and “remaind.” These do not make the response impossible to understand, but they reduce precision and control. Aim for accurate collocations such as “the number of participants” and use specific trend language that matches each series.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a contrast in “Opposite pattern for the activity amateur dramatic which dropped sharply…” and a sequence of changes linked with “then.” The main meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “Film club were” has subject–verb disagreement, while “from around in 2010 20 participant” has an unclear word order and missing plural marking. Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “at one social center” and the long overview sentence ending with “however.” Use complete, well-punctuated sentences, check singular/plural agreement, and keep time references in a consistent past-tense form. These corrections would make your varied sentence attempts more controlled.
