Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the five activities and give a clear overall picture: film club remains the largest, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis rises. Several comparisons are relevant, and the film-club figure of about 63 in 2000 is close to the chart. However, some details are inaccurate or imprecise: amateur dramatics starts at about 26, not 30, and ends at about 6 rather than zero; table tennis starts at about 16, not 20; musical performances begin rising in 2010, not 2005, and reach about 18 in 2020. The overview also says several activities fluctuated, although table tennis and musical performances show sustained growth. More accurate key figures and a sharper summary of the contrasting trends would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details about the activities. Linking expressions such as “Overall,” “Moreover,” and “whereas” help signal relationships, and the reader can generally follow the comparisons. However, the overview groups trends imprecisely, and some transitions make the relationships between details less clear—for example, “while” and “whereas” are used to connect several separate trends in a crowded paragraph. Referencing is also sometimes unclear, as in “their number of entity” and “their value.” Organise the body into clearer comparisons, such as film club and martial arts in one paragraph, then the declining and rising activities in another, and use direct references to each activity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuation,” “significantly,” and “rise notably,” and you attempt to vary the wording for people taking part. However, the range is limited and several choices or spellings are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the description awkward: “number of entity,” “attendents,” “candidates,” and “player” are not suitable or consistent terms for these figures. “Musics performance” and “Asteur dramatics” also show spelling or word-form problems. Prefer precise chart language and repeat the activity names when needed rather than substituting inaccurate synonyms. For example, describe participant numbers as “rose,” “fell,” or “remained relatively stable,” and use “participants” consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including clauses introduced by “in which,” “while,” and “whereas.” The main trends are usually understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “their are 5 types of activities are,” where the clause structure and agreement are faulty, and “at social centre,” which needs an article. There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the run-on sequence “their number fall significantly and reach at 0 in 2020. while,” and inconsistent capitalisation after full stops. Work on forming one clear main clause per sentence, checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and punctuating subordinate clauses correctly. These changes would make your comparisons easier to read.
