Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the five activities and report several relevant patterns, including the film club’s high participation, the decline in amateur dramatics, and the rise in table tennis. However, the overview is incomplete and partly inaccurate: musical performances began at zero and rose, so they were not consistently the activity with the fewest participants. Some details are also unclear or incorrect. For example, amateur dramatics fell from about 26 in 2000 to 6 in 2020, but the response says it declined in “2025,” a year not shown. Table tennis reached about 54 by 2020, rather than 50, and the film-club figures fluctuated slightly rather than increasing every year. Select the main trends accurately and compare the start and end points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and two sections beginning “After analysis” and “Turning to remaining information.” This gives the reader some sense of organisation, and sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “In addition” help signal new details. However, progression is not consistently clear because several activities and years are crowded into long sentences, especially the amateur-dramatics description. Some linking phrases are repetitive or awkward, and the overview does not clearly prepare the reader for the detailed comparisons. Use separate, focused sentences or paragraphs for the main trends, and group related activities—for example, the declining series together and the rising series together.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “declined,” “increased,” and “approximately,” so the reader can generally identify the intended trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “maximum individuals were participats,” “number of people were rosed,” and “show their intreast.” Repeated use of “people,” “number,” and “participants” also makes the account less precise. Spelling errors, including “individulas,” “intrested,” and “Addittionally,” further reduce control. Build a small set of accurate chart-description phrases, such as “the figure stood at,” “rose to,” and “remained broadly stable,” and check spelling and word forms before submitting.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates the general subject and some trends, but grammatical errors are frequent and sometimes make relationships between figures difficult to follow. Examples include “the number of individuls were slightly increased,” where the subject and verb form do not agree, and “in year 2000 no one was participats,” which has an incorrect verb construction. Several sentences run together without clear punctuation, particularly the sentence describing amateur dramatics. Most structures are simple, with attempts to connect clauses that are not reliably controlled. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and basic sentence patterns, such as “The figure rose from 16 in 2000 to 54 in 2020.” Then add longer comparisons only when their grammar and punctuation remain clear.
