Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main patterns accurately: film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises sharply, musical performances increase, and amateur dramatics declines. The overview also notes that martial arts fluctuates. Several figures are close to the chart, including film club at about 65 initially and 60 in 2010, and table tennis ending at roughly 55. This gives the report a clear, relevant summary. To make the account more complete and precise, include key intermediate values or comparisons: for example, table tennis reaches about 36 in 2015, overtaking martial arts, while musical performances begin in 2010 rather than 2005. The claim that film club is highest throughout is accurate, but some trends are described generally rather than fully traced.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response is organised into an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and the activities are grouped in a generally sensible way. Sequencing expressions such as “Overall,” “after 2010,” and “Finally” help readers follow the account. The main progression is clear, but cohesion is sometimes mechanical or imprecise: repeated phrases such as “started the figure,” “ended the figure,” and “the figure of” do not clearly express the data relationships. The final paragraph also moves through three series without much comparison between them. Use more direct links to show contrasts and changes, such as comparing table tennis’s rise with amateur dramatics’ decline, and ensure each transition accurately signals the time period.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “decline,” “fluctuated,” “significant increase,” and “downward trend,” so the reader can understand the broad patterns. However, the range and control are limited by repeated, unnatural collocations such as “started the figure,” “reached at 60,” and “finished its figure.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “film dub,” “ameteur,” “appoximately,” and “performanes”; these reduce the accuracy and polish of the report. Choose standard chart language and check spelling carefully. More precise verbs such as “stood at,” “fell to,” “rose to,” and “ended at” would help you report values clearly without relying on the repeated word “figure.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “although,” and “until,” and the overall meaning is usually understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in sentence construction and verb patterns. For example, “martial arts fluctuated the figure” uses an incorrect structure, and “it reached at 60” has an unnecessary preposition. In “The musical performances activity started in 2005,” the time reference is inaccurate, though the grammatical form is understandable. There are also inconsistent article and sentence-start choices, as in “Finally, The amateur dramatics.” Aim for straightforward, accurate clauses first, then add complex structures where they clarify comparisons. Review verb patterns and punctuation to make the sentences more controlled.
