Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the activities and make a relevant overall observation that film club has the most participants. You also report the sharp rise in table tennis, which is one of the graph’s main changes. However, the account only partially covers the data: it gives little information about the steady film-club figures, the fluctuations in martial arts, or the decline in amateur dramatics. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and table tennis was about 54 in 2020 rather than 50. The claim that amateur dramatics had the fewest participants is not true throughout the period. Focus on the main trends and support the overview with accurate comparisons across the years.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has some organisation: it begins with an introduction, then gives observations about the activities, and ends with a conclusion. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The second paragraph lists activities and makes broad claims, while the following paragraphs move between years and trends without a clear comparison or systematic structure. Connectors such as “And” are repeated, and the isolated “n” interrupts the flow. The final sentence about activity depending on “trends, health, entertainment” does not summarise the graph’s data. Group the information into clear stages—for example, the consistently high film-club and fluctuating martial-arts figures, followed by the contrasting changes in the other activities—and use linking phrases to show those relationships.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a graph, including “highest,” “lowest,” “gradually,” and “increasing.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which can make the meaning less clear. For example, “taking parts” and “people taken participants” do not express participation naturally, while “sudden change” is vague for the marked rise in table tennis. There are also spelling and form errors, such as “differtent” and “upto.” Build a more precise set of trend expressions, such as “remained relatively stable,” “declined steadily,” and “rose sharply,” and use standard forms such as “participants” and “up to.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response mainly uses simple sentence patterns, with a few attempts to combine ideas using “and” and “by 2010.” Frequent errors in sentence structure, tense, agreement, articles, and punctuation sometimes make the account difficult to follow. For instance, “between 2000 to 2020” uses an incorrect preposition pattern, and “film club has the highest number” shifts into the present when describing past data. The sentence beginning “In 2000, there were only four activities” runs into the next idea without clear punctuation, and “amateur dramatics have the least number” has an agreement problem. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and form complete, clearly punctuated sentences before attempting longer structures.
