Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You provide a clear overview by identifying the film club as consistently the most popular activity and noting the growth in table tennis and musical performances. Most reported trends match the graph: film-club participation dips before rising, martial arts fluctuates, and amateur dramatics declines. The response also includes useful figures for several series. To make the account more fully developed, report the scale of the musical performances’ rise more accurately: it reaches about 18 by 2020, rather than merely saying it rose from about 11. Table tennis’s increase is also understated at about 50, compared with approximately 54 in the graph. The overview could highlight that table tennis became the second-largest activity by 2020, while amateur dramatics fell to the lowest level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and subsequent descriptions of the activities. This makes the main information easy to locate, and the series are generally presented in a sensible order. However, the body reads somewhat like a list, with each activity treated separately and limited comparison between them. For example, the sharp rise in table tennis could be contrasted with the decline in amateur dramatics, especially as their relative positions change over the period. Some linking is also mechanical or unclear, as in “In the 20 years duration” and “From 2000-2020.” Grouping related trends and using clearer transitions would create stronger progression and cohesion.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “remained the most popular,” “dramatic increase,” “fluctuation,” and “rapid decline.” These choices communicate the main patterns, but the range and precision are uneven, and some collocations or forms are inaccurate. “Tabble tennis” is misspelled, while “musical performance became popular” is less precise than describing its participant numbers as increasing. “Mostly participants were interested” is also an awkward way to express that the film club had the highest participation. Aim for accurate activity names and natural trend language, and avoid repeating general terms such as “rise” without specifying the scale or direction of change.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and some more developed structures, and the overall meaning is generally clear. However, errors in articles, sentence construction, and punctuation remain noticeable. For example, the introduction needs an article in “at social center,” and “started to rise of about 11” has an incomplete grammatical pattern. The sentence beginning “Amateur dramatics began at 26” also joins the peak and decline without a clear verb structure. There is an uncapitalised “it” after a full stop, and the final sentence would be clearer with a complete comparison of the figures across the period. Practise accurate article use and build trend sentences with consistent past-tense verbs and clear clauses.
