Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main overall feature—that the film club remained the most popular activity—and report several important trends, including the sharp rise in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and their numbers continued to rise rather than becoming constant. Martial arts peaked in 2010, but its figures fluctuate around the mid-30s, a comparison that could be stated more precisely. The overview also says other events fluctuated, although table tennis and musical performances show clear upward trends. To strengthen the report, give a more accurate overview and support it with key figures across the period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear paragraph structure: an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs describing the activities. Sequencing expressions such as “Overall,” “On the other hand,” “Moreover,” and “Lastly” help the reader follow the comparisons. The organisation is coherent, but some links are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately. For example, “Whereas” is used as a sentence fragment after the overview, and “On the other hand” does not clearly contrast the film-club trend with musical performances. The final paragraph also moves through several activities without grouping trends consistently. Use complete linking structures and organise details by pattern—for example, rising activities together and declining or fluctuating ones together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary for describing data, including “participants,” “decline,” “fluctuation,” and “rose,” so the main trends are generally understandable. There are, however, noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, such as “Melboiene,” “minnor,” “intereset,” and “dramatical.” Some collocations are also unnatural: “participation of people,” “a slight rose,” and “the number become constant” do not express the trends idiomatically. Aim for precise chart language and check spelling carefully. Phrases such as “the number of participants,” “a slight rise,” and “remained stable” would make the description clearer and more natural while retaining an appropriate academic tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “which saw a minor decline” and contrastive structures such as “but then.” Meaning is usually recoverable, but some grammatical errors affect clarity. For example, “participation in musical performances were started” has incorrect agreement and passive construction, while “the number start declining” needs a past-tense verb. The sentence beginning “Whereas” is incomplete, and “after that there was constant increase” is missing an article. There are also punctuation issues, including missing spaces after commas. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and complete sentence structures, while checking subject–verb agreement and articles.
