Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the chart’s subject and mention several relevant overall features, including film club remaining the most popular and amateur dramatics declining to the lowest level by 2020. However, the report only partially summarises the data: it gives almost no accurate figures and some comparisons are unclear or incorrect. For example, table tennis overtakes martial arts by 2015 and rises to about 54 participants in 2020, but this change is not clearly reported. The statement that musical performances “was started in the year 2005” conflicts with the chart, where participation is zero in 2005 and begins to rise in 2010. Focus on the main trends and support them with selected, accurate figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to an overview and then to details about the activities. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression within the body paragraphs is difficult to follow because several trends are combined in long, loosely connected sentences. Phrases such as “the third activity after table tennis was martial arts” and “take the place of last-second” do not make the intended comparisons clear. Linking words such as “but” and “and” are used repeatedly without showing precise relationships between the data. Group the activities by trend—for example, stable or declining figures versus strong growth—and use clear comparisons to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “line chart,” “popular,” “highest,” “growth,” and “decline” (though the last trend is not expressed accurately). The range is limited, however, and repeated general words such as “activity” and “year” make the description imprecise. Several word choices or collocations obscure meaning, including “number of information of condidate,” “main functions,” and “last-second.” Spelling errors such as “caparisons,” “whre,” “flim,” and “tannis” are also noticeable and can slow the reader’s understanding. Build a more accurate set of chart-description phrases and check spelling, especially for the activity names and terms used to compare rankings.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentences, but the longer structures are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to understand. For example, “There many activity people use to participate in” is missing a verb and has problems with number and sentence structure. In “table tennis are become the second highest,” the verb form and agreement are incorrect. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in “at social centre” and the crowded list “film club, martial arts.” Most sentences would be clearer if built around a subject and a correctly formed verb, with one main comparison per sentence. Practise past-tense reporting and subject–verb agreement.
