Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the five activities and include a clear overall contrast: film club remains the most popular, while amateur dramatics declines. You also report several relevant figures and trends, such as film club beginning at 64 and table tennis rising substantially. However, some key details are inaccurate or unclear. Musical performances began in 2000, not 2005, and table tennis already had participants in 2000; it rose from about 16 to 54, rather than starting later and reaching almost 60. The overview also says four activities rose, although amateur dramatics fell and martial arts fluctuated around a similar level. More precise comparisons and a clearer account of the main changes would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to paragraphs describing the activities. Phrases such as “Overall” and “Let's take look” help signal shifts, and grouping amateur dramatics with martial arts gives the reader a useful comparison. However, the progression is sometimes difficult to follow because several trends are compressed into long sentences, and references such as “one game” and “another one” are not always immediately clear. The overview also conflicts with the later account of the trends. Use separate, focused sentences for each comparison and organise the details into clearer groups—for example, stable/high figures, rising activities, and the declining series.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for describing a graph, including “participants,” “increase,” “fall,” and “highest number,” so the topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “unique activities,” “huge increase,” “slide increase,” and “stable and increase active participants.” Spelling errors—including “illustrats,” “begining,” and “gaem”—also reduce clarity and control. Aim for precise trend language and natural collocations: for example, describe a figure as “remained relatively stable” or “rose sharply,” rather than using vague phrases such as “got huge fall.” Check spelling carefully, especially for activity names and common reporting verbs.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more extended sentences, and the main message is usually recoverable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur in several places. For example, “there was 5 different activities” should use a plural verb, while “4 of them starts” needs a past-tense form. The sentence beginning “As graph illustrats” also lacks an article and becomes difficult to follow as clauses are joined together. Punctuation is inconsistent, with missing spaces after full stops and commas. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons as complete, clearly punctuated sentences; this will help your ideas come across without the reader having to interpret the grammar.
