Student answer (Band 6.0)
The line grap compares the number of participants for different activites held in social center in Melbourne and Australia from 2000 to 2020.
Overall, it is crystal clear that film club remain almost constant in number of participation. However, Amateur dramatics showed an downward trend in participants which is the only activity in which number of memebers delcined.
In the Martial arts activity there was a dynamic changes in its number of participants as in 2000 there was 35 members then falls to 30 later roses to 40 and at the end it stands at 40 members in activity. In the activity of table tennis there was only less then 20 participants but after the year 2010 it surge in its members and numbers goes at 55 from 17.
Musical performances is the only activity which begins from 2005 and rises gradually in its participants from 0 to 18 members.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important patterns: the film club remains broadly stable, amateur dramatics declines, table tennis rises sharply, and musical performances grow from zero. These are relevant features and give the response a clear overall direction. However, the overview is incomplete because it does not highlight table tennis as the strongest increase or note that film club has the highest participation throughout. Some figures and descriptions are inaccurate: martial arts ends at about 36, not 40, and table tennis rises from about 16 to 54 rather than from 17 to 55. The claim that musical performances begins in 2005 is also incorrect; it starts in 2010. More precise reporting and a fuller overview would make the summary more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and separate paragraphs describing activity trends. This helps the reader follow the main categories, and expressions such as “However” and “In the activity of table tennis” signal transitions. At times, though, the progression is uneven: the overview mentions only two activities, while the later paragraphs introduce the other trends without a clear comparison across the whole period. Some linking is mechanical, and references such as “it” in the table-tennis sentence are not always immediately clear. Organise the details by contrasting the stable or fluctuating activities with the major rises and falls, and use clearer links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for describing trends, including “constant,” “downward trend,” “rises gradually” and “surge.” This gives you a useful range for a line graph, although some choices are inaccurate or do not collocate naturally: “dynamic changes” is vague, “less then 20” is imprecise, and “number of participation” is not a natural phrase. Spelling errors such as “grap,” “activites,” “memebers” and “delcined” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise graph language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a line as fluctuating or remaining relatively stable, and use “number of participants” consistently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “However” and a time clause beginning “as in 2000.” The main trends are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “film club remain” and “numbers goes”; verb forms are faulty in “then falls” and “later roses”; and articles and sentence structure need attention in “there was a dynamic changes.” The sentence about table tennis also lacks a clear grammatical connection between its figures and trend. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and agreement, and use a clear pattern such as “The number rose from X to Y.”
