The graph illustrates about the numbers of people who used to participate in activities like film club, martial arts, amateur drama, table tennis and musicial performances from 2000 to 2020 in Melbourne, Australia.
Overall, the hype of film club remained the same as most of the people used to participate in that club but amateur dramatics has decline drastically over the period.
To start with, the film club around 65 people were interested in the club but the number decrease in 2010 to 60, although till 2020 it comes back to the same number. Martial arts starts with 35 in 2000 which rose in 2010 by 40 and till 2020 it remained almost the same. However, amateur dramatics have the least number of participants in 2020 but in 2000 there were around 25 people which also inclined in 2005 but afterwards it declined steadily.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main activities and cover the full period, with relevant details such as film-club participation falling to about 60 before recovering and amateur dramatics declining to its lowest point. The overview also recognises the contrast between the popular film club and the sharp fall in amateur dramatics. However, some comparisons and figures are unclear or inaccurate: martial arts peaks at about 38 in 2010, not 40, and table tennis reaches about 54 by 2020 rather than 50. Musical performances begin to attract participants in 2010, not 2005. The overview would be stronger if it highlighted table tennis’s substantial rise and its position as the second-largest activity by 2020. Select the key trends more precisely and support them with accurate comparisons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, an overview, and paragraphs describing the activities. Sequencing phrases such as “Overall,” “To start with,” and “Looking at table tennis” help readers follow the account, and the information generally progresses through the chart. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and shows some effective paragraphing. However, the grouping is not fully balanced: film club, martial arts, and amateur dramatics are crowded into one paragraph, while table tennis and musical performances receive brief separate treatment. Some links are awkward or unclear, particularly “although till 2020 it comes back” and “after 2010 it rose.” Grouping activities by contrasting trends and using clearer references would make the progression more controlled and less dependent on formulaic transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic vocabulary to describe the chart, including “participants,” “declined steadily,” and “rose,” so the main information remains understandable. There is also some attempt to vary trend language. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or informal: “the hype of film club” does not mean its participation level, and “people used to participate” suggests a past habit rather than reporting chart figures. “Inclined” is also the wrong word for an increase, while “musicial” is misspelled. Repetition of “number” and “people” limits precision. Use standard chart-reporting expressions such as “participation,” “stood at,” “increased,” and “fell,” and check spelling and word forms. These changes would make the vocabulary more accurate and appropriate to an academic summary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including clauses with “although,” “but,” and “however.” The meaning is usually recoverable, and the response includes some correctly formed statements, such as “There were no participants in musical performances in 2000.” However, some sentence structures are incomplete or awkward, as in “To start with, the film club around 65 people were interested in the club,” where the subject and verb pattern are not properly formed. Tense and agreement also need attention: “the number decrease” should be “the number decreased,” and “amateur dramatics has decline” should be “amateur dramatics declined.” Practise consistent past-tense reporting and complete sentence patterns, for example, “The film club had around 65 participants in 2000.”
