Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features: the film club had the highest participation, table tennis rose substantially, and amateur dramatics declined. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. Film club participation fluctuated only slightly, rather than being “constant fluctation,” and martial arts varied around 32–38 rather than showing a clear five-person rise and fall. Amateur dramatics fell from about 26 to 6, not by 25 members, while table tennis rose from about 16 to 54; it was not constant at 15 through 2010. Musical performances, which began at zero and increased to about 18, are omitted. The overview is present but imprecise, and several comparisons need clearer, accurate support.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs that group the activities. The contrast signposts “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” also help readers follow the broad organisation. However, progression within sentences is often difficult to follow, as in “while around 65 persons in 2000, which is almost fluxtation constant.” Some linking phrases, including “Mainwhile” and “In contrast,” are used inaccurately or do not make the relationship between figures clear. The final paragraph also combines several trends without a consistent comparison. To improve, give each sentence one clear point, use accurate transitions, and organise the body around the main rising, falling, and stable trends.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of vocabulary relevant to describing trends, including “sharply increased,” “declined,” and “dramatically increased.” These choices show awareness of the language needed for a graph report. However, frequent spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions reduce clarity: “significiant chages,” “higest,” “fluxtation,” and “mambers” are examples. Phrases such as “knowledge on the number,” “participants were participated,” and “35 natives” are not appropriate collocations for this task. Use standard terms such as “number of participants,” “remained relatively stable,” and “approximately 35 people.” Check spelling carefully and choose trend vocabulary that matches the size and direction of each change.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You try to use both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast clauses, but complex structures are often faulty, and errors occur frequently enough to make some information difficult to interpret. For example, “the participants were participated in film club was higest” has an incorrect verb construction and lacks a clear sentence structure. “Amateur dramatics are massive declined” also has an incorrect verb form, while “Table tennis have” shows subject–verb disagreement. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are inconsistent, as in “a up and down” and “person's.” Aim first for accurate simple sentences with a clear subject and verb, then add clauses using “while” or “whereas” only when the grammar is secure.
