Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several relevant overall patterns: table tennis rises substantially, film-club attendance remains high, and amateur dramatics declines. You also include some figures, such as film-club participation being above 60 at the start and table tennis exceeding 50 by 2020. However, the overview is unclear and partly inaccurate: amateur dramatics did not remain unchanged, but fell from about 26 to 6. The musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and table tennis was about 20 in 2010 rather than 13. The response also calls the activities sports, although film club and musical performances are not sports. Select the main trends accurately, compare the series more clearly, and support the overview with reliable figures.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, beginning with an introduction and overview before describing individual activities. Linking expressions such as “Meanwhile,” “However,” and “Furthermore” show an attempt to connect information. However, the progression is difficult to follow because several trends are combined in long, loosely connected sentences, and some links do not express a clear contrast or addition. For example, the sentence beginning “Meanwhile, the musical performances…” moves directly into table tennis without a clear separation of the comparisons. The final sentence is especially confusing because it gives two figures for amateur dramatics without explaining the years or the direction of change. Group related trends into clear paragraphs and use simpler, more precise transitions.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “participants,” “decreased,” “remained,” and “reached,” so the reader can recognise that you are describing changes over time. However, the range is limited and several word choices or forms are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear. “Contestants” and “players” are not suitable for all the activities, while “one of most gained participants” does not clearly describe an increase. There are also spelling errors such as “modt,” “rnd,” and “dramwtics,” and the phrase “most Fall participants” is difficult to interpret. Use neutral terms such as “participants” or “attendance,” and practise accurate trend language such as “rose sharply,” “declined steadily,” and “fluctuated.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to use both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, including “While on the other hand…” and “but again it was risen…”. However, complex constructions are often faulty, and errors in sentence boundaries, agreement, articles, and verb forms frequently make the account harder to understand. Examples include “the musical performances was,” “table tennis players was,” and “it was slightly decreased”; these need correct agreement and active or passive verb forms. Several sentences also run together without spaces after full stops or commas, as in “2020.Overall” and “2000,there.” Aim first for accurate, complete sentences with consistent past-tense reporting, then add subordinate clauses once those patterns are secure.
