Student answer (Band 5.0)

The graph ilustrate the information on the number of participant for different activities in Melbrourne on a single social center. This graph consist of mainly five clubs which are flim, martial arts, amature dramatics, table tennis, and musical performances from 2000 to 2020.

Overall, we see the escalation in the number of participants in table tennis. whereas flim club is on the top all time. As compared with musical perfomances there is no participant from 2000 to 2005 after that the dramatic growth is shown in the grapg till 2020.

On the other hand amateur dramatics go down with the passage of time and the matial arts club gradually remain the same number of participants but in its journey we see the minor fluctuations in that.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the five activities and the 2000–2020 period, and your overview correctly highlights table tennis’s rise, film club’s consistently high participation, musical performances starting at zero, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the response is under-developed: it gives almost no figures or direct comparisons, and the claim that musical performances show “dramatic growth” is too broad for a rise to about 18. Martial arts is described as remaining broadly stable, but its fluctuations are not illustrated with data. The response also contains 126 words, below the required 150, which limits the detail available. To make the summary more complete, include key start and end figures and compare the sharp increase in table tennis with the fall in amateur dramatics.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic structure, with an introduction followed by an overview and further comments on trends. This helps the reader identify the main subject and some key patterns. However, the progression is limited: the final paragraph begins “On the other hand” but does not clearly contrast its points with the previous paragraph, and the ideas are compressed into broad statements rather than developed in a logical sequence. The phrase “whereas film club is on the top all time” is also attached awkwardly to the overview. Organise the body around clear comparisons—for example, rising activities versus declining or stable ones—and use linking expressions only where the relationship between ideas is clear.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuations,” “gradual,” and “growth,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, such as “ilustrate,” “Melbrourne,” “flim,” “amature,” and “grapg.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “on the top all time” and “in its journey” do not describe the graph clearly. Aim for accurate, conventional collocations such as “had the highest number throughout” and “experienced minor fluctuations.” Check spelling carefully and use precise trend verbs, including “rose,” “fell,” and “remained relatively stable,” rather than relying on general terms such as “escalation.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its general meaning, but grammatical control is inconsistent and the sentence structures are mostly simple. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “The graph ilustrate” and “This graph consist,” as well as singular/plural and article problems in “the number of participant” and “a single social center.” The sentence beginning “As compared with musical performances” is incomplete, while “whereas film club is on the top all time” is not integrated smoothly into the preceding sentence. There is an attempt at a more complex structure in “after that the dramatic growth is shown,” but punctuation and clause connection are weak. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate agreement and articles, and use clear past-tense reporting consistently for the period shown.
