Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important patterns: the film club remains the largest activity, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis rises strongly after 2010. However, the overview is incomplete and includes an inaccurate comparison: table tennis starts as the lowest, but musical performances are lower in 2000 and remain at zero in 2005. Some figures and trends are also imprecise; for example, martial arts reaches about 38 in 2010, not 40, and the response does not clearly report its later fluctuations. Musical performances begin in 2000, rather than only being described as zero in 2005. The response is 149 words, one word below the 150-word minimum. Add a clearer overview and support it with accurate comparisons across the period.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview and two detail paragraphs, and it groups some related activities together. However, progression is not consistently clear: the final paragraph moves from amateur dramatics to table tennis and then musical performances without clear transitions, while the earlier detail paragraph focuses on film club and martial arts. Linking phrases such as “An analysis of the image reveals” and “An evident of the image proven” are repetitive and do not clearly signal comparisons. Punctuation spacing also makes the text harder to follow. Organise the details into clearer groups, such as the declining activities and the rising or stable ones, and use concise, accurate links between them.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “increased sharply,” “fell sharply” and “upward trend,” so the reader can understand the main subject and some changes. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “largest participants,” “had the lowest,” and “a variation for another 10 years.” “Players” is also less suitable than “participants” for activities such as film club and musical performances. There are noticeable spelling errors, including “Muscial,” “tge” and “yera,” which reduce clarity and control. Aim for precise trend language and check spelling; for example, describe a figure as “the highest number of participants” and say it “fluctuated” rather than “had a variation.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts a few longer structures, including “although Amateur dramatics fell sharply,” but sentence construction is often faulty and the range remains limited. Errors include the opening phrase “represents on the number,” the incomplete construction “Martial arts been fluctuated,” and “An evident of the image proven that,” which make relationships between ideas unclear. Articles, agreement and verb forms are also problematic in phrases such as “the participants about 65” and “it is started at 18 players.” Several sentences run together without appropriate spacing after commas or full stops. Use straightforward, complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, then check articles and tense—for example, “The figure started at about 16 and rose to 54 by 2020.”
