Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You identify the main patterns accurately: the film club stays highest, table tennis rises sharply, amateur dramatics declines, and martial arts fluctuates within a narrow range. The overview is clear, and the figures for table tennis and martial arts are broadly consistent with the graph. This gives the response a solid account of the task, with some features reported more fully than others. To make the summary more complete and precise, include key stages or endpoint figures for the film club and musical performances, and clarify that amateur dramatics falls from about 26 to 6 rather than saying only that it declined heavily. The overview already captures the major contrasts, but selective supporting data would develop it further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with supporting details. The main trends are grouped sensibly, and linking expressions such as “Overall,” “In contrast,” and “Meanwhile” help signal comparisons. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical because several sentences repeat the same point, particularly that the film club was most popular and that martial arts changed only slightly. There is also a missing space after “activities.” before “Table tennis,” which interrupts the flow. Improve progression by using the final paragraph to add distinct evidence rather than restating the overview, and connect related comparisons more smoothly. Clearer referencing and less repetitive linking would make the organisation more fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use a reasonable range of vocabulary for describing trends, including “fluctuated,” “dramatic fall,” “rose,” and “slight fluctuations.” These choices make the main movements understandable, and the response attempts some more descriptive language. However, several expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “the figure of people,” “rose exceptionally high,” and “most popular and demanded.” There are also spelling errors, including “flutuated” and “throught,” and inconsistent singular/plural forms in phrases such as “Musical performance(s).” Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully. More precise verbs and collocations would help you describe changes without relying on broad or awkward phrases.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and some more complex forms, including contrastive clauses beginning “In contrast” and “Meanwhile.” Most of the intended meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “between 2000 to 2020” uses the wrong paired preposition, and “it was declined heavily” has an incorrect passive construction; write “it declined sharply.” Tense control is also inconsistent: “Film club has been” shifts to the present perfect when the chart describes a completed period, while “it rose gradually and reach” mixes past and present forms. There are also agreement and article issues, as in “Musical performances was.” Review verb forms, agreement, and preposition patterns to improve accuracy while retaining varied sentence structures.
