Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the main overall feature that the film club remained the largest activity, and you cover all five series, including the sharp rise in table tennis and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the overview is limited to the film club’s ranking and does not clearly summarise the contrasting trends across the period. Some details are inaccurate or unclear: film-club participation dipped slightly before rising, rather than simply showing “ups and downs”; musical performances began at zero in 2000, not 2005; and table tennis rose sharply after 2010, reaching about 54 by 2020. The response therefore reports relevant information but only partially selects and presents the key features. A clearer overview and more precise descriptions of changes would strengthen it.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, a brief statement about the leading activity, and descriptions of the individual lines. This makes the general subject understandable. However, the organisation is not consistently clear, as most of the data are placed in one long paragraph and the repeated pattern of “The graph shows…” or “After 20 years…” makes the account feel list-like. Some links between time points are also imprecise, such as “in next five years” and “after 2010,” which can make the progression difficult to follow. Grouping the activities by trend—for example, rising, falling, and relatively stable—and using clearer time references would create a more coherent progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “increased rapidly,” “reached,” and “constant,” so the main trends can generally be understood. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “participants who worked for many activities,” “started approximately from,” and “cross the line of 50.” Spelling errors in “Amarture daramatics” and “slighlty” also reduce accuracy, while “numbers” is less suitable than “participants” for describing the figures. Aim for precise trend language and accurate activity names, using expressions such as “the number of participants stood at,” “rose to,” and “exceeded 50.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response communicates the broad trends, but grammatical control is uneven and the sentence structures are mostly simple, with some longer sentences that become faulty. For example, “After 20 years it is remain constant at 36” has an incorrect verb form, while “it slowly increased for next two years” is missing an article and has an unclear time reference. The opening phrase, “illustrates about the participants,” is also not grammatically well formed. There are attempts to connect clauses with “but” and “after,” yet punctuation and sentence boundaries are not always controlled. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build longer sentences around clear subjects and verbs, while checking articles, agreement, and punctuation.
