Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You identify the five activities and report several broad trends, including the decline in amateur dramatics and the strong rise in table tennis. However, some figures and summaries do not match the graph: film-club participation stays around 60–66 rather than fluctuating between 60 and 70; musical performances begin at zero, not five, and reach about 18, not 25. The final summary also incorrectly says martial arts and musical performances increased overall: martial arts ends at roughly its starting level, while musical performances rise from zero. The overview is limited, and key comparisons are not clearly selected or explained. The response is also 8 words below the required minimum. Add a clear overview and accurate comparisons to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, descriptions of several activities, and a concluding summary. Linking expressions such as “Similarly,” “However,” and “On the other hand” show an attempt to connect information. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the final sentence groups activities as increasing even though martial arts is broadly stable, which weakens the summary’s logic. The descriptions are also compressed into a single block rather than separated into clear paragraphs, and some transitions do not establish a precise comparison. Organise the response into an introduction, an overview, and one or two detail paragraphs. Use linking phrases only when the relationship between the trends is accurate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuate,” “gradually,” and “increased,” so the reader can generally understand the trends you intend to describe. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “players for martial arts,” “drop down,” and “showed interest in it.” Spelling errors—including “amature,” “Howeer,” “intect,” and “dramtics”—also make the writing less clear and less controlled. Choose precise terms for chart descriptions, such as “participation remained stable” or “the figure rose sharply,” and check spelling carefully. Avoid interpreting the data as evidence of people’s interest unless the graph explicitly shows that.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer comparisons, for example, “On the other hand, the number of table tennis players were 18 in 2000 but people showed interest in it…” However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make the intended meaning difficult to follow. Examples include the missing article and preposition in “represents number of participants … during period,” the agreement error “the number … were,” and the malformed phrase “remained intect from 2000 to 202So 0.” Tense and sentence construction also need more consistent control. Practise accurate patterns such as “The number of participants was…” and “Participation rose from … to …,” and use full stops to separate complete ideas.
