Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You report figures for all five activities and identify several important patterns, including the film club’s consistently high participation, the decline in amateur dramatics, and the growth of table tennis and musical performances. Most figures are close to the chart, though the film club’s final value is slightly overstated and the table-tennis figure for 2020 is also a little low; these are minor discrepancies. The main limitation is that there is no clear, concise overview drawing the trends together—for example, that table tennis rose sharply to become the second-largest activity, while amateur dramatics fell to the lowest level. Some details are presented as a list rather than being selected and compared, so the key features are only partly highlighted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a generally understandable sequence: it begins with the film club, moves to martial arts and amateur dramatics, and then covers the remaining activities. However, the information is not organised into clear paragraphs, and the progression is largely a series of activity-by-activity statements rather than a deliberate comparison of trends. Linking is limited and sometimes awkward, as in “While, Musical performances…”; “However” does not establish a clear contrast in its sentence. The repeated use of years and figures also makes the report feel list-like. Grouping the rising activities together and the declining or relatively stable ones together, with a separate overview, would create clearer progression and more effective cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic vocabulary to communicate the chart, including “participants,” “throughout the years,” “decreased,” and “respectively.” However, the range is limited, and several choices are unnatural or imprecise for describing data. “For about 65 number of participants had competed” is an awkward construction, while “had a loss” does not naturally describe a falling figure. “Got raised” and “got decreased” are also informal and imprecise. There are spelling errors in “perfomances” and “upto,” and some repeated wording such as “participants” and “years.” Use standard trend language such as “stood at,” “rose,” “declined,” and “remained stable,” and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates the main figures, but grammatical control is uneven and the sentence patterns are mostly simple, with some attempts at longer structures that are not well controlled. For example, “For about 65 number of participants had competed” lacks a clear grammatical subject and uses an unsuitable tense; “The number of participants in Martial arts were 36” has subject–verb disagreement. The sentence beginning “Amateur dramatics had a loss… such as they started…” is also awkwardly joined, and “In 2010 they had 10 participants 15 in 2015” needs clearer punctuation and a linking structure. Aim for accurate reporting frames such as “The figure stood at…” and use a full stop or conjunction to separate complete ideas.
