Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You cover all five activities and identify the main contrast: film club has the highest participation in 2020, while amateur dramatics is lowest. Several trends are also reported accurately, including the decline in amateur dramatics and the sharp rise in table tennis after 2010. However, some figures and timings are misread: table tennis starts at about 16 participants, not 6, and musical performances begin in 2010, not 2005. The film-club figures are broadly accurate, but the overview could better highlight table tennis’s substantial growth and martial arts’ relative stability. This is a relevant summary, though some features are less fully and precisely reported than others.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a brief overview, and then details about the activities. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow, and linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “Furthermore,” and “Besides this” help signal relationships. However, the overview is very brief, and the body moves from one activity to another without grouping the main trends, so comparisons between series are limited. Some linking phrases feel mechanical, and references such as “after this” and “in coming years” are not always precise about the period being discussed. Organising the details into clearer groups—for example, rising activities and declining or stable ones—would strengthen progression and cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant vocabulary for describing a line graph, including “decreased,” “remained stable,” and “climbed sharply,” and the reader can generally understand the trends you intend to report. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are unnatural, such as “biggest ratio,” “participants uses,” and “was used by” for participation in activities. Spelling errors, including “paticipants” and “remaind,” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise graph language and consistent forms, such as “the number of participants,” “participated in,” and “rose.” This would make the description more natural and clearer without requiring more complicated vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, and the response is generally understandable. However, errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction occur across the response. For example, “participants perform five type” needs a grammatical structure such as “participants in five types,” while “36 participants are seen” and “19 participants was seen” do not consistently use appropriate tense or subject–verb agreement. The sentence about table tennis also combines several time references in a confusing structure. Use past simple consistently for the historical data, check singular and plural agreement, and divide long sentences where needed. More accurate control of these patterns would make your comparisons easier to follow.
