Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important patterns: film-club attendance remains the highest, table tennis rises sharply, amateur dramatics declines, and martial arts changes little. Most reported start and end figures are close to the chart. However, the response mainly lists individual activities rather than giving a clear, concise overview of the main trends, and some details are inaccurate: film-club attendance ends at about 66, not 67, while musical performances reach about 18, not 15. The account also says this series began increasing from 2005, although it remains at zero then and first rises in 2010. To strengthen the report, state the overall contrasts clearly and select accurate figures to support them.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The activities are presented in a generally understandable order, and phrases such as “On the contrary” and “The 5th one” attempt to connect the information. However, the response has no distinct overview and conclusion, and the opening and final sentences repeat the task rather than helping the reader follow the key comparisons. The long central paragraph moves from one series to another with limited signposting, while “On the contrary” does not clearly express the relationship between the trends. Organise the report into an introduction, an overview of the main changes, and detail paragraphs grouping related trends—for example, the rising series together and the declining or stable ones together.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “increased,” “declined,” and “highest,” so the main information is usually understandable. However, the range is limited and some word choices or collocations are awkward, such as “the most amount of the students,” “same position,” and “highest increasing participant rate.” There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “summaraising,” “incresing,” and “tbe,” which reduce the accuracy and polish of the report. Use precise terms for trends and avoid calling participants “students” unless the chart identifies them that way. A wider set of accurate expressions, such as “remained broadly stable” and “rose substantially,” would make comparisons clearer.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response communicates its main points through mostly simple sentences, with some attempts to combine ideas using “but,” “which,” and “although.” However, the range of sentence structures is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make parts of the report awkward. For example, “the amateur dramatics was declined” uses an incorrect passive form; “the martial arts is kind of in the same position” has an awkward subject and verb construction; and “it started increasing from 2005” does not clearly express when the rise began. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at sentence beginnings and around the activity names. Practise accurate past-tense descriptions and build clearer comparisons using controlled complex sentences.
