Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify the main overall patterns: film club remains the most popular activity, table tennis rises markedly, and amateur dramatics declines. You also cover all five activities and include several relevant figures, such as table tennis reaching about 55 and amateur dramatics falling below 10 by 2020. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: film club is described as steady, although it dips before rising, and musical performances reach about 18 in 2020 rather than remaining at 15 from 2015 onward. The overview also says activities generally fluctuated, which misses the contrasting sustained rise in table tennis and fall in amateur dramatics. More precise comparisons and a clearer summary of these key trends would strengthen the report.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction and overview are followed by two paragraphs grouping the activities. This makes the information reasonably easy to follow, and contrast markers such as “while in contrast” help signal differences. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes weakened by unclear phrasing, including “The second ranks is table tennis” and “The martial arts activity is flcuated.” Some linking is also mechanical, with repeated use of “the number of participants” and “over the years.” Organise each body paragraph around a clear comparison, and use more precise references to connect trends—for example, contrast table tennis’s sharp rise with amateur dramatics’ decline.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuated,” “accounted for,” and “dropped,” and the reader can generally understand which activities you are describing. There is also an attempt to vary language with phrases such as “most popular” and “less popular.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “largest proportion” is not suitable for participant totals, “beginning with small share” is awkward, and “jump into 10” is imprecise. Spelling errors such as “flcuated,” “represtened,” and “activites” also reduce control. Use standard trend language and check spelling; for example, describe figures as participant numbers and say they “rose sharply” or “fell steadily.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences with contrast and time clauses, as in the sentence describing table tennis’s increase. However, grammatical control is uneven, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include missing articles and prepositions in “at social center” and “from years 2000 to 2020,” subject–verb agreement in “The second ranks is,” and faulty sentence construction in “The best social activity … represented the largest proportion was over than 60.” There are also problems with verb forms and sentence boundaries, such as “decrease slightly until reached.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles, agreement, and past-tense forms.
