Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response identifies the main patterns: film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises markedly, and amateur dramatics declines, with musical performances starting later. These are relevant features and the overview at the end reinforces the key contrast. Most figures are broadly consistent with the graph, though some are imprecise: table tennis reaches about 54 in 2020 rather than 50, and musical performances rise to around 18 rather than 15. The account of amateur dramatics also skips the intermediate stages, and the description of martial arts gives little detail beyond its stability. To strengthen the report, compare the series more directly and include a few accurate endpoint figures while keeping the overview concise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response is arranged in a generally clear sequence, with separate paragraphs for the activities and a concluding summary. The contrast between declining amateur dramatics and rising table tennis is easy to follow, and phrases such as “On the contrast” signal a relationship between trends. However, the organisation is somewhat list-like: each activity is described in turn, with limited comparison across series. Some linking expressions are awkward or repetitive, and the final “In Nut Shell” repeats points already made rather than adding a useful synthesis. Grouping the activities by their trends—for example, stable, rising and falling—would create clearer progression and more effective cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

There is adequate vocabulary for describing the graph, including “stable,” “dropped,” “decrease,” “increase,” and “declining significantly.” The writer also attempts more varied wording, such as “tended to increase” and “boom,” but some choices are imprecise or unnatural in this context. “Reluctant to join” suggests a deliberate attitude, whereas the graph only shows participant numbers; “inclined to 50” is not the natural collocation for a rising figure. Capitalisation and spelling are inconsistent in terms such as “Amateur Dramatics” and “In Nut Shell.” More precise trend language and consistent use of activity names would improve clarity and control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple statements and longer sentences, and the main trends remain understandable. However, some grammatical errors recur. For example, “The number of film club participants are highest” has subject–verb disagreement, while “at social center” and “from year 2000-2020” omit necessary articles or prepositions. Sentence boundaries and capitalisation are also inconsistent, as in “in 10 years. it continued to decrease.” The phrase “In 2000 15 people joined” would be clearer with punctuation and a more suitable reporting structure. Greater accuracy with agreement, articles, tense consistency and sentence punctuation would make the report more polished.
