Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main high and low series: the film club remains the most popular, while amateur dramatics declines, and you mention growth in table tennis and musical performances. However, the overview is unclear and some comparisons are inaccurate or incomplete. For example, amateur dramatics and table tennis are not equal in 2010 (about 20 and 20, respectively, so this comparison is correct), but the film club’s slight fall occurs up to 2010, not simply “in 2010.” The claim that martial arts “get to the 39” is close to the approximate figure, while table tennis rises sharply after 2010. Several key stages and the contrast between the stable martial-arts figures and the changing series need clearer reporting. Focus on accurate overall trends and support them with selected figures.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: an introduction, an attempted overview, and comments on individual activities. This gives the reader some organisation, and phrases such as “In 2010” and “At musical performances” signal shifts in focus. However, the progression is not consistently clear. The overview combines several ideas in fragments, and the later paragraph moves between activities without a clear grouping or comparison. Repeated openings such as “In…” and “At…” make the report feel list-like, while links such as “While” do not connect the ideas smoothly. Organise the details into paragraphs that compare related trends—for example, the broadly stable activities and those that rise or fall—and use clear references to avoid repeating the same pattern.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “significant increase,” “decreases,” and “rose,” so the reader can recognise the intended trends. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts difficult to understand, such as “activites,” “compair,” “flucated,” and “largrly decrease.” Some expressions are also unnatural for describing data: “it gain 20 persons” and “has more people” would be clearer with standard trend language. Use precise verbs and nouns consistently, such as “stood at,” “fell,” “rose,” and “participant numbers.” Check spelling carefully and avoid informal or vague phrases so that comparisons are expressed accurately.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the response is generally recognisable as a report about the graph. However, grammatical errors occur frequently and sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “The line graph illustrate,” “the time go,” and “it get to the 39,” where subject–verb agreement and verb forms are not controlled. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “has less participantas” and the run-on sequence beginning “In film club since the starting.” Practise building accurate sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use past-tense forms consistently when describing the years shown. Shorter, correctly punctuated sentences would improve clarity before you attempt more complex structures.
