Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main series and report several relevant trends, including film club’s consistently high participation, the relative stability of martial arts, the decline in amateur dramatics, and the rise in table tennis. However, the overview is partly inaccurate: musical performances began at zero and rose to about 18, so they were not the activity with the lowest participation throughout. The report also gives only a limited comparison of the five activities and omits useful stages, such as table tennis overtaking martial arts by 2015 and approaching the film club by 2020. Some figures are approximate but broadly grounded in the chart. A more precise overview and fuller comparisons would make the summary more complete and clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and it groups some related information together. However, progression is not consistently clear: the overview contains a run-on sequence of observations, while the final paragraph shifts from table tennis to musical performances without a clear linking comparison. Connectors such as “Overall,” “thenafter,” and “finally” are used, but some are awkward or do not make the relationship between ideas clear. Repetition of “the number of participants” also makes the report less smooth. Organise the body by contrasting the main trends—for example, declining activities against rising ones—and use clear references and transitions to guide the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “increased,” “decreased,” “reached,” and “peak,” and the reader can generally identify the activities being discussed. However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “number of participants available,” “number of table tennis player,” “amateru,” and “muscial performance” are examples. Repeated use of “number” and “participants” also makes the description less varied. Choose accurate activity labels and use natural expressions such as “participation in table tennis rose” or “the figure for amateur dramatics fell.” More precise vocabulary would help distinguish a steady trend from a sharp rise or fall.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentences, and the main meaning is usually recoverable. However, errors are frequent, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty structures. For example, “Overall, there was maximum number” is missing an article, while “The line graph show” has subject–verb disagreement. The sentence beginning “one of the main feature i have observed” has problems with number, capitalisation, and sentence construction; “the number of participant decreased” also has a singular/plural mismatch. Punctuation and sentence boundaries are inconsistent, particularly in the overview. Practise accurate basic clauses first, then build longer sentences with controlled linking and consistent past-tense forms.
