Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important features: the film club remained the largest activity, table tennis rose sharply, and amateur dramatics declined. Most of the figures you give are broadly consistent with the chart, including the film club’s fall to about 60 in 2010 and recovery to around 65 by 2020. However, coverage is incomplete: musical performances are mentioned only briefly in the overview and then omitted from the detailed account, and the martial arts and table tennis trends are not fully described across the period. The statement that musical performances started in 2005 is inaccurate; they began at zero in 2000 and remained there until 2005. A fuller overview and more balanced reporting of all five activities would strengthen the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic structure, moving from an introduction and overview to a paragraph of figures, and the activities are generally identifiable. However, the progression within the overview is difficult to follow: several trends are listed in quick succession, and “At last” does not clearly signal the relationship between musical performances and the preceding points. The detailed paragraph also shifts between activities without a consistent order, while the final sentence returns to amateur dramatics. Some linking is present through “Overall,” “then,” and “while,” but connections are often mechanical or unclear. Grouping the rising, falling, and relatively stable series, and using clearer references between sentences, would make the information easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “substantial reduction,” “peaking,” and “declined,” which helps communicate the main trends. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, such as “dramatic increased,” “facing upward direction,” and “changed from 15 percent to rose up.” “Percent” is also unsuitable here because the graph reports participant numbers, not percentages. Spelling errors such as “throught,” “tabble,” and “dcrease” are noticeable. Aim for precise trend language and accurate forms, for example, “increased dramatically,” “rose steadily,” and “fell from 27 to 6 participants.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response includes simple sentences and attempts some longer structures, but grammatical control is inconsistent. Errors in verb forms and agreement occur in phrases such as “Martial arts also demonstrates a slight changed,” “participants are about 65 numbers,” and “Amateur dramatics has been indicate.” Tense choices also shift between past and present when describing the historical data. Some sentences remain understandable, but these recurring errors make parts of the account awkward and occasionally obscure the intended meaning. Practise forming accurate past-tense comparisons, such as “The number fell from 36 in 2000 to 32 in 2005,” and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries before finishing.
