Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the five activities and report several important patterns: film club remains the largest, table tennis rises sharply in the later years, and amateur dramatics declines. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear. Film club fluctuates slightly rather than staying stable throughout, and table tennis begins its steep rise after 2010, not simply from 2010. Musical performances first gain participants in 2010, not 2005, while amateur dramatics ends at about 6, rather than 8. The final sentence about “the economic and the employment” is unrelated to the graph and weakens the response’s focus. A clearer overview and more accurate comparisons would make the summary more complete and relevant.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic structure, with an opening, a paragraph describing trends, and a final sentence. The response also uses some linking expressions, such as “after that” and “but.” However, the main information is crowded into one long paragraph, so the trends are difficult to follow. Several transitions are repetitive or unclear, and the sequence of details sometimes obscures the timeline—for example, the account of musical performances says the increase occurred “in 2005” and then refers to “after 2005.” The unrelated closing sentence interrupts the progression. Grouping the activities into clearer comparisons and using precise time markers would improve the organisation.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for describing charts, including “participants,” “stable,” “surge,” “increase,” and “falling.” This gives you a basic range for reporting trends. However, spelling errors and imprecise or unnatural expressions are noticeable, including “ilustrates,” “articulets,” “incresed,” and “going up words and down words.” Phrases such as “most amount of participants” and “really grifful” are also unsuitable or unclear in this context. Aim for accurate, conventional chart language and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a line as fluctuating, rising sharply, or declining steadily, and use “the highest number of participants” rather than “the most amount.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts both simple statements and longer sentences joined with words such as “which,” “but,” and “after that.” However, control is inconsistent, particularly in the longer sentences, where punctuation and sentence boundaries are often missing. For example, the sentence beginning “The table tennis had a great surge” combines several ideas without clear separation, and “it haded only 8 participants left” has an incorrect verb form and awkward construction. There are also problems with articles, capitalization, and sentence punctuation, as in the opening description. Use shorter, complete sentences to report each trend, then practise combining them with accurate clauses and punctuation.
