The gragh reveals information regarding the number of participants for different activities at one social centre in Melbourne, Australia for the period 2000 to 2020.
From an overall perspective, what stand out from the graph is that there was upward trend in Table tennis, however Amateur dramatics show a significant decrease over the period 2020. Another additional point is that Martial arts and Film club remains at the same position in all years.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify relevant overall movements, especially the rise in table tennis and the sharp fall in amateur dramatics, and you include some approximate figures. However, the account is incomplete and contains important inaccuracies: film club rises slightly overall rather than remaining unchanged, while martial arts fluctuates rather than staying at the same level. The final sentence repeats the amateur-dramatics decline and is unclear, so it does not provide a useful comparison. Musical performances began in 2010, not 2005, and reached about 18, rather than 20. The response also falls one word short of the 150-word minimum. To strengthen the report, give a more accurate overview and compare the main series across the period.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction and overview to details, and phrases such as “In contrast” signal an intended comparison. However, progression is weakened by repetition and unclear connections. The final sentence beginning “However, the Martial arts and Film club…” shifts abruptly to a description of amateur dramatics without identifying it, making the reference confusing. “Another additional point” is redundant, and “At the end” does not clearly connect the table-tennis figures to the preceding point. Organise the body around clear comparisons—for example, the two declining or stable activities, then the rising series—and use linking expressions only where they accurately show the relationship between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of task-related vocabulary, including “participants,” “significant decrease,” “rose steadily,” and “gradual increase,” so the main trends are generally understandable. There are, however, noticeable spelling and word-choice problems: “gragh” and “gorw” are misspellings, “citizens” and “partners” are unsuitable substitutes for participants, and “same position” is imprecise for describing figures. “Commence from” is also an awkward collocation in this context. These choices sometimes make the report less natural or precise, although the intended meaning can usually be recovered. Use standard chart language consistently, such as “the number of participants,” “remained relatively stable,” and “increased to.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast introduced by “however” and a time comparison using “from…to.” Nevertheless, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction are frequent. For example, “what stand out” should be “what stands out,” and “there was upward trend” needs an article. In “Amateur dramatics show a significant decrease,” the verb does not agree with the subject, while “Martial arts and Film club remains” has a plural subject with a singular verb. The final sentence is a fragment and its clauses are difficult to connect. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement, and check articles and tense consistency before submitting.
