Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You identify several important patterns: table tennis rises markedly, amateur dramatics declines, and film-club participation remains broadly stable. The overview also notes fluctuations in martial arts and growth in musical performances, so the response addresses the main features. However, some details are inaccurate or unclear: amateur dramatics is about 26 in 2000 and 28 in 2005, not 28 and 30; martial arts begins at about 36 and ends at 36, rather than starting and ending at 38; and musical performances begin at zero in 2000, not in 2005. The description of film-club figures as showing “no difference” also overlooks their slight dip and later rise. More precise comparisons and accurate figures would make the report more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a recognisable structure, with an overview followed by paragraphs describing groups of activities. This helps the reader distinguish the main trends, and transitions such as “Moreover” and “Coming to” signal movement between points. However, progression within sentences is sometimes difficult to follow, particularly in “Table tennis in the 18% in 2000 and its drastically change during half of the year rose steadily in 52% in 2020.” Some linking is also mechanical or unclear, as in “Whereas” after a full stop and “later its subsequently.” Organise each detail in a clear chronological sequence and use straightforward links to show contrast or change. Clearer referencing would also help readers identify which figures belong to each activity.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “fluctuating,” “steadily,” and “fell,” and you attempt to describe different kinds of change rather than simply listing figures. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or obscure meaning. “Film city figure” appears to mean the film-club figure, while “moderate performance” does not clearly describe participant numbers. Phrases such as “had rose steadily” and “drastically change” also show difficulty selecting the appropriate form or expression. Use precise terms such as “number,” “increased,” “declined,” and “remained stable,” and avoid adding “%” when the chart reports participant counts, not percentages. This would make the vocabulary more accurate and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt a mixture of simple statements and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “while” and “whereas.” However, errors in verb forms, sentence construction, and agreement are frequent enough to make several details hard to interpret. For example, “had rose steadily” should use the past participle “risen,” and “its figure went 30%” lacks a clear grammatical construction. The sentence beginning “Coming to Martial arts participants” is also incomplete or awkwardly formed, while “Film club is 65% in initial year were stable” combines incompatible structures. Practise forming complete past-tense sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check articles and prepositions. More accurate control of these patterns would make your comparisons easier to understand.
