Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the main broad patterns: film-club and martial-arts participation is fairly stable, amateur dramatics declines, and table tennis and musical performances rise. The figures for amateur dramatics and table tennis are also broadly accurate. However, the overview says there is “no progress” in the first two activities, which is imprecise, and the musical-performances account is incomplete: it began at zero in 2000, not 2005, and reached about 18 by 2020. The response also omits useful comparisons, such as table tennis overtaking martial arts by 2015 and becoming the second-largest activity. At 133 words, it does not meet the 150-word minimum. Include a fuller overview and a few well-chosen comparisons to report the key features more completely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, an overview and a paragraph of details. This helps the reader distinguish the general trends from the figures. However, progression within the detail paragraph is limited: the activities are listed one after another, with little comparison between them, and the final sentence about musical performances is left unfinished. Linking expressions such as “On the other hand” and “While” are attempted, but the latter does not lead to a complete sentence, and the transitions do not consistently clarify relationships between trends. Grouping the stable activities together, then contrasting the rising and falling series, would create a clearer progression. Complete each sentence and use comparisons to connect the data rather than relying mainly on a list.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant chart vocabulary, including “participants,” “decrease,” “increased,” and “time period,” so the main trends can generally be understood. There are also attempts at more precise language, such as “significantly increased.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “information of participants involving in” and “social plateform” do not express the chart’s subject naturally, while “neglectable growth” is not an appropriate description of small changes. Spelling errors such as “significat,” “whicc,” and “performace” are noticeable, and “members” is repeated where “participants” would be more consistent. Use standard chart phrases such as “the number of participants,” “remained relatively stable,” and “rose sharply,” and check spelling before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including a contrast introduced by “while” and a relative clause in “which significantly increased.” However, grammatical control is inconsistent, and errors sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Examples include “in a Australian city,” “amateur dramatics have approximately 25 member,” and “Table tennis have 15 participants,” where articles, agreement and plurals are not controlled. The opening phrase “participants involving in” also has an incorrect verb pattern, and the final “While” clause is incomplete. Capitalisation after “Overall” and punctuation around the activity list also need attention. Practise accurate sentence patterns such as “The number of participants in table tennis rose from 16 to 54,” and proofread each sentence for a complete subject and verb.
