Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify several important patterns: film club remains the largest activity, table tennis rises sharply, amateur dramatics declines, and musical performances begin at zero before increasing. Most reported figures and directions broadly match the chart. However, the overview is not fully accurate: “Number of participants increase all events expect Amateur dramatics” overlooks the slight fluctuations in martial arts and the small early decline in film-club attendance. The description of table tennis as reaching a “peak” is also vague; its rise to about 54 by 2020 is the key comparison, while film club finishes higher at about 66. Some trends are mentioned without enough precise comparisons, so the main features are only partly developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable sequence, moving from film club and martial arts to table tennis, amateur dramatics and musical performances, followed by an overall statement. This gives the reader some organisation. However, the paragraphing is limited, and the progression between details is sometimes difficult to follow. Connectors such as “By costrast” and “Overall” are attempted, but the relationships between ideas are not always expressed clearly; for example, the table-tennis sentence shifts from its early figures to its later rise without a clear comparison. Grouping the stable activities together and the contrasting upward and downward trends in separate paragraphs would make the report easier to follow. Use linking phrases accurately and avoid repeating the same sentence pattern.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant chart vocabulary, including “highest number,” “steady,” “decrease,” “rise” and “lowest point,” which helps communicate the main trends. However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the report harder to understand, such as “participents,” “martail arts,” “Table tanse,” “dramეტically” and “Bothes participent sector.” Some phrases are also unnatural, including “participants information” and “shows in given data.” Aim for accurate activity names and standard trend collocations, such as “the number of participants,” “attendance rose sharply,” and “fell to its lowest level.” Proofreading spelling and choosing precise nouns and verbs would make your descriptions clearer and more appropriate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences with contrast, for example, “By costrast, Table tanse participants in between 10 to 20 in 2000 to 2010, but…” This shows an effort to describe changes across time, but grammatical control is inconsistent and errors sometimes obscure the intended meaning. Examples include missing or incorrect verbs in “film club recorded the highest number” (the surrounding sentence needs clearer structure) and “Amateure dramatics participents is almost 25,” as well as agreement and tense problems in “number increase” and “its rise.” Articles, prepositions and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise forming accurate comparisons with a clear subject and verb, such as “The number of table-tennis participants rose from about 16 to 54.”
