Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You identify the main high and low categories and include an overview: the film club remains the largest activity, while amateur dramatics declines and table tennis grows. However, several details are inaccurate or unclear. Amateur dramatics starts at about 26, not 37, and falls to around 6 rather than zero; table tennis reaches about 54 in 2020, not almost 60. The overview also calls musical performances the lowest, which is true only at the beginning; by 2020 amateur dramatics is lower. Most importantly, the response focuses mainly on 2000 and 2020 and omits the notable changes in the intervening years, including the rise in table tennis and the start of musical performances. Report these key trends more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure, with an opening, an overview, and paragraphs that attempt to compare the beginning and end of the period. This gives the reader some sense of organisation. However, progression is limited: “first of all” and “secend thing” introduce points mechanically, and the account does not clearly group the activities by their trends. Several ideas are joined with apostrophes or “and,” making relationships between figures difficult to follow. The final sentence is unfinished (“and in the end tennis are”), which disrupts the ending. Organise the body around clear comparisons—for example, stable activities versus those that changed substantially—and use complete sentences with accurate linking phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “decreased,” “increase,” and “highest,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning unclear: “table tennis following it as the second number,” “decreased strightly,” and “became heigher little.” There are also repeated spelling errors, such as “amature,” “secend,” “meanwhie,” and “constract.” Use precise trend language and standard spellings, and avoid phrases such as “respectively” when no paired figures are being compared. A wider, more accurate set of expressions for stability, fluctuation, and sharp change would make the report clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
There are attempts to connect ideas using “whereas,” “meanwhile,” and “but,” but sentence structures are mostly simple or incomplete, and errors frequently affect clarity. For example, “film club reached in the top about 65” has an incorrect verb pattern, while “martial arts are lower than it with 38 number of participants” has problems with agreement and sentence construction. The opening sentence also lacks a clear grammatical structure, and the final clause, “and in the end tennis are,” is unfinished. Punctuation and capitalisation are inconsistent throughout. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check tense and agreement when describing past figures.
