Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify several relevant features, including the film club’s high participation, the sharp rise in table tennis, and the decline in amateur dramatics. However, the overview is incomplete and sometimes inaccurate: amateur dramatics did not begin at the lowest level, since musical performances had no participants in 2000, and the film club did not simply remain stable at the end—it rose from about 60 in 2010 to 66 in 2020. Some details are also misreported: amateur dramatics had about 26 participants in 2000, not 35, and musical performances began in 2010, not 2005. To make the summary more complete, give a clear overview of the main contrasting trends and report key figures accurately.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a basic paragraph structure, with an introduction, an overview, and two paragraphs of details. It also attempts to organise information by activity and uses time markers such as “In the year of 2000” and “by 2010.” However, there is no consistent progression: the final paragraph moves between amateur dramatics, musical performances, and the film club, while the earlier paragraph combines table tennis and martial arts. Linking words such as “whereas” are repeated and sometimes connect ideas unclearly. For example, “by 2020 its increase considerably but after that year” gives a confusing sequence. Grouping the rising activities together and the declining or fluctuating ones together, with clearer comparisons, would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-relevant vocabulary, including “participants,” “increase,” “decreased,” and “highest point,” so the reader can generally identify the trends you intend to describe. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. Phrases such as “the very low stage,” “its rose steadily,” and “participants activity” are not natural ways to describe the graph. There are also noticeable spelling errors, including “wheras,” “paerticipants,” “consideraby,” and “reamin.” Build a more precise set of trend expressions, such as “rose sharply,” “declined steadily,” and “remained relatively stable,” and check spelling carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to use both simple and longer sentences, including comparisons with “while” and “whereas,” but control is inconsistent. Frequent errors in sentence structure, verb forms, agreement, and articles sometimes make relationships between figures unclear. For example, “Film club participants is very high” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “by 2020 its increase considerably” needs a correctly formed verb phrase. The sentence beginning “The year of 2000” is also missing a suitable preposition or introductory structure. Punctuation is uneven, with missing spaces after commas and some run-on phrasing. Practise accurate past-tense reporting and straightforward comparison structures before adding more complex clauses.
