Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You identify the main patterns: table tennis and musical performances rise, amateur dramatics falls, and film club and martial arts fluctuate around broadly similar levels. You also include relevant figures, such as table tennis reaching about 55 in 2020 and musical performances ending near 18. However, some key details are incomplete or inaccurate. The film club was the highest series throughout, beginning at about 64 and ending at 66, but this is not highlighted in the overview. Musical performances began at zero in 2000, not 2005, and amateur dramatics started at about 26 in 2000, rather than 29 in 2005. Develop the overview around the strongest comparisons and report the full time span more precisely.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction and overview to paragraphs describing the activities. This makes the main trends reasonably easy to follow. However, the grouping of series is not always effective: the final paragraph combines amateur dramatics, film club and martial arts, although their patterns differ, and the concluding statement that the graph had “approximately same participants” is unclear about which activities it refers to. Some linking is also awkward or mechanical, as in “While,” at the start of a sentence and repeated uses of “over the years.” Group related trends more deliberately, use clear comparisons between series, and ensure each reference such as “it” or “the overall graph” has an unmistakable meaning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant task vocabulary, including “participants,” “decline,” “fluctuations,” and “reaching,” and the reader can generally understand the trends you describe. However, word choice and collocation are often imprecise: “sharp inclined” and “sharp rised” are not natural ways to describe a steep increase, while “the highest value on the graph” is repeated rather than varied. There are also spelling errors, including “Overll,” “amd,” “nealy,” “flictuation,” and “participents,” which reduce accuracy. Use standard trend phrases such as “rose sharply” and “increased gradually,” and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish a steady rise from a sharp one.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentences, including contrasts with “while” and time clauses such as “After that.” However, some grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships unclear. For example, “The graph illustrate” needs subject–verb agreement, and “Table tennis had lowest numbers … with was nealy 18” has an incorrect clause structure. In “it increase …” and “sharp rised,” the verb forms are inaccurate; “the amateur dramatics show” also needs agreement. Articles and sentence boundaries need attention, as in “reaching highest value at graph.” Practise accurate past-tense reporting and build comparisons with complete clauses, while retaining your attempts at varied sentence structures.
