The diagram below shows the process for recycling plastic bottles.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

How plastic bottles are recycled

Student answer (Band 7.0)

The diagram illustrates the process how plastic bottles are recycled.

It is clear that there are nine stages, beginning with the collection of plastic bottles from people. The plastic bottles are then sorted, compressed and so on, and finally turn into raw material and be used for new products.

Firstly, people drop plastic bottles in specific places where the recycle tracks collect them and transport to the recycling centers. Then the staffs worked in recycling centre will sort the plastic bottles and put them into different boxes. Subsequently, the sorted bottles will be compressed into square blocks which will be cut into small pieces at later stage. After that, the small pieces experience washing in the water tank. The small pieces then are putted in machines to produce plastic pellets following by the heating process to form raw material. Next, the raw material was packed to factory to produce end products. Finally, the end products are collected again, restarting the cycle.
