Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response fails to meet the minimum length requirement of 150 words, stopping abruptly at only 87 words. Consequently, the task is addressed only partially, as the student manages to describe only the initial stages of the recycling process, namely sorting and compressing, while completely omitting the subsequent phases such as washing, pellet production, and the creation of end products. The overview provided is extremely rudimentary and fails to adequately summarise the main features of the diagram as a whole.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
There is some basic organisation with the use of introductory linking words like 'First of all', but the overall progression of the text breaks down rapidly. The writer attempts to sequence the steps, but referencing becomes unclear, particularly with phrases like 'Image one to image nine represented into that whole process.' Paragraphing is poorly handled, with a heavy reliance on single-sentence paragraphs that disrupt the flow and fail to logically group the information presented in the diagram.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is limited and repetitive, featuring noticeable errors that occasionally impede communication, such as 'rubbish plastic' instead of 'plastic waste', 'trashes', and 'sortout'. The student attempts some less common terms related to the diagram, such as 'recycling centre' and 'compress', but word choices and collocations are frequently awkward or inaccurate, as seen in expressions like 'remove his house trashes into a trash box' and 'rubbish collecting vehical'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple sentences with frequent and disruptive errors. There are multiple issues with verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and articles, such as 'vehical collect this all trash', 'workers sortout these treshes as a different types', and 'plastic bottels and other stuffs compress into block'. Punctuation and pluralisation errors are also persistent throughout the short text, causing difficulty for the reader.
