Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
You identify the topic and begin to explain one benefit of competition, saying that workers may complete tasks efficiently and students may take their goals seriously. However, the response does not discuss the opposing view of cooperation or give a clear personal opinion, so major parts of the task are missing. The opening claim that people should help one another is not developed into an explanation or example. The response contains 117 words, below the required 250; the 14 words copied from the prompt were not counted. This leaves too little space to develop relevant ideas. To improve, explain both perspectives, state your own position clearly, and support each main point with a specific example.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening, a general overview, and a paragraph beginning “First of all” that introduces advantages. This gives the reader some indication of the direction of the discussion. However, the ideas do not progress into a complete argument, and the response ends without addressing cooperation or reaching a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “on the other hand” are used, but the contrast they signal is not developed. Some references, including “Sum of them” and “the competition,” make the intended connections difficult to follow. Use clear paragraphs for each viewpoint and your opinion, and connect each claim to its explanation or example.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “competition,” “advantages and disadvantages,” “goals,” and “efficient,” so the general subject is usually recognisable. However, the range is narrow and several phrases are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “compete each other,” “complete in time,” and repeated references to “peoples.” Spelling errors such as “Ther,” “hoew,” “acheive,” and “efficent” also reduce clarity and control. Aim for more precise collocations and a wider set of terms for both sides of the issue, such as “cooperate,” “share responsibilities,” and “strive to outperform.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural word combinations will make your meaning easier to understand.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response includes mostly simple sentence patterns and attempts a few longer clauses, for example, “If the people are compete each other for the work then they complete their work…” This shows an effort to express cause and effect, but verb forms and sentence construction are not controlled consistently. Examples include “people are compete,” “the peoples are give,” and “students also take it seriously,” where the forms do not fit the intended meaning. There are also problems with articles, agreement, and punctuation, including the comma spacing in “other,we.” These errors sometimes make the relationships between ideas unclear. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences using correct verb forms and conjunctions.
