Student answer (Band 5.0)
Yes, i agree that competition at work, at school and in daily life is a good thing. and i do agree also that coperation is also important then competing against each other almost in all the schools, or in all sectors people are competing with each other and with competition some people are very cooperative.
Competitions at work, at school is very important because by doing competition you will wor hard and if you work hard you can get success and with success you willl also come to know that how much potential you have. For example one of my school friend is very dumb in studies so everyone think that he is very dumb in studies and he can't achieve anytghing in his life even teachers also think that on one day he participated in Math competition and he have to compete with 3 other student and to win this competition he did alot of hardwork and he win that competition everyone was surprised that how he can win this competition but his hardwork leaded him to success. I think competition helps people to do hardwork.
cooperation with others is also important rather then competing. People who cooperate with others are the most inteligent people. You should not do competition with everyone if someone is new or he is having any difficulty you should do cooperate with him. For example one of my friend in school is the very brilliant student in school he always don't like to compete with others and he always do cooperate with others and he always helps other students in their difficulties.
So, i think both competition and cooperation is important but you should not always compete with others nor cooperation.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both competition and cooperation and give a clear overall view that both matter, supported by examples from school life. The story about your friend winning a maths competition illustrates how competition can motivate effort, while the example of a helpful high-achieving student supports cooperation. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the benefits of competition are explained more fully than the reasons people should cooperate, and the claim that cooperative people are “the most intelligent” is not explained or supported. Your final position—“you should not always compete … nor cooperation”—is also unclear. To strengthen the response, explain the advantages and possible limits of each approach, then state precisely when cooperation or competition is preferable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, a paragraph about competition, one about cooperation, and a conclusion. The examples are placed with the relevant viewpoint, which helps readers follow the main topic. However, progression within and between ideas is uneven. The opening combines several points in one long, unclear sequence, and the conclusion repeats that both approaches matter without resolving how they should be balanced. Linking phrases such as “For example” and “So” are useful, but connections between claims are often missing or repetitive. Use clearer topic sentences, separate the main claim from its explanation and example, and add transitions that show contrast or consequence, such as “By contrast” and “As a result.”
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “potential,” and “hardwork.” The examples also make the intended meaning generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “competition,” “cooperate,” and “hardwork.” There are noticeable spelling and word-choice problems, including “coperation,” “dumb,” and “lead(ed) him to success,” which make parts of the response less natural and occasionally harder to interpret. Aim for more precise, appropriately formal expressions and check spelling carefully. For instance, describe a student as “struggling academically” rather than “dumb,” and use “effort helped him succeed” instead of the awkward phrase about hard work leading him to success.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt some longer sentences to explain reasons and give examples, but the range is limited and these complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in sentence boundaries, verb forms, agreement, and articles occur throughout. For example, “everyone think” should be “everyone thought,” while “he have to compete” needs a past-tense form such as “he had to compete.” The opening also joins sentences with “and” in a way that makes the meaning difficult to follow, and “he win that competition” lacks the correct past-tense verb. These errors can cause difficulty for the reader, even though the main message is usually recoverable. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences with controlled clauses and consistent past-tense narration.
