Student answer (Band 6.0)
People hold different opinions regarding competition or cooperation in daily life. While some people believe that competition in daily life is a positive thing, others believe that cooperation is more positive rathern than competition. This essay will discuss both prespective before presenting my own view.
One of the strongest arguments favour of this viewpoint is competition works like a motivation in daily life. This is primary because people feel that they needs to do more better than others in terms of competition, by this people have extra motivation to achieve success in their life. consequently, this approach not only influence hardworking mentality but also helps boost their way of thinking to make him better than others. A compelling example of this can be observed in Usa individuals work tirelessly to get the promotion, so that they achieve the success quickly than others, clearly demonstrating the practical significance of this perspective. Therefore, supporters firmly believe that competition in daily life would generate substantial long-term benefits.
On the other hand, one of the most convincing arguments supporting this viewpoint is cooperation creates more positive relationship between each other, an approach capable of producing equally meaningful outcomes. This is largely because by using cooperation a people feel more safe and positive attitude towards the other person, enabing person not showing any jealous attitude and make a healthy relationship between people. For instance, some China schools create a environment where no competition is allowed. After this, they successfully improved the bond between children after adopting cooperation policy, illustrating the effectiveness of this alternative approach. Taken together, these arguments explain why many people continue to support this viewpoint.
In conclusion, both viewpoints have valid arguments. However, I believe that competion is more beneficial because it offers greater long-term motivation for individuals to get success and personal well being.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear opinion in the introduction and conclusion: you favour competition because it can motivate people to succeed. The two body paragraphs also give relevant reasons and examples, including workplace promotion and cooperation in schools. However, the discussion is unevenly developed. The competition paragraph explains motivation and achievement, while the cooperation paragraph mainly asserts that it improves relationships; the China-school example is broad and does not explain how cooperation produces better outcomes. To strengthen the response, develop the benefits and possible limits of each view with more specific reasoning, and make the examples more clearly support those points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress in a logical order. This meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger organisation. However, several transitions feel formulaic, particularly the repeated “one of the strongest/most convincing arguments” openings and “Taken together” at the end of the cooperation paragraph. Some references, such as “this viewpoint” and “this approach,” are not always precise. Use more varied links and make each reference clearly identify the idea it refers to.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “motivation,” “long-term benefits,” “promotion,” and “healthy relationship,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “A compelling example” and “supporters firmly believe.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, word forms, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the writing awkward: “more better,” “a people,” “enabing,” and “competion” are examples. Phrases such as “make him better than others” are also imprecise for a general argument. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling and word forms carefully; this will make your vocabulary more precise without requiring unnecessarily complex words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction (“While some people believe…”) and a reason clause beginning “This is largely because…”. The overall meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors remain across the response. For example, “people feel that they needs” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “a environment” and “a people” show problems with articles and countability. The sentence beginning “This is primary because” also has faulty construction, and punctuation is inconsistent, especially where sentences run directly into the next one. Review agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, then check each longer sentence for a complete and correctly connected structure.
