Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays people have different opinions about compition and cooperations. While some people think that competition with others encourages individuals to imprpve their abilities and achieve their goal, others argue that working together is more beneficial. In my opinion, although competition has its own benefits, cooperation is more important for long-term success. I will discuss both views in the following paragraphs.
On the one hand, competitions has several benefits. First, competition helps peoplr work hard and achieve their goal. When people can compete themself with others, they do hardwork and always get motivated. For example, students often study seriously to get higher marks than their classmates. Secondly, it helps people improve their skills and performance. In addition, competition builds confidence and helps people face new challenges. As a results people can become more successful and achieve the goal in both professional and pesonal lives.
On the other hand, cooperation has its different advantages. The first benefit is that cooperation helps people to improve their knowledge. If people cooperate with others, they can share their ideas, knowledge and skills with each others. For instance, In hospitals, both Doctors and nurses cooperate each others and provied qualotative care to the patients. Furthermore, cooperation remove stress and builds strong relationships between people. They can easily connect with others and mainatain a good bonding. Consequently, cooperation is more essential than competition.
In conclusion, both competitipons and cooperation has their own advantages. However, I believe that cooperation is more important because it improves knowledge, teamwork and helps people achieve common goals.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the discussion and gives a clear, consistent opinion: competition can help individuals improve, but cooperation matters more for long-term success. Relevant examples, such as students aiming for higher marks and hospital staff working together, support the main points. This meets the task well, though some ideas are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that cooperation “remove[s] stress” is not developed with a reason or illustration, and the benefits of competition are listed more than explored. To strengthen the response further, explain how each example demonstrates the claimed benefit and develop the comparison between individual achievement and shared goals.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion that restates the writer’s position. Sequencing phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Within paragraphs, however, ideas sometimes read as a list, with “First,” “Secondly,” and “Furthermore” doing much of the linking. Some connections could be made more explicit: the move from cooperation improving knowledge to reducing stress, for instance, needs explanation. There is also a slightly mechanical feel to the repeated signposting. Use a wider range of links that show cause, contrast, or consequence, and connect each supporting point more directly to the paragraph’s main idea.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas about competition and cooperation, with relevant terms such as “motivated,” “performance,” “challenges,” and “common goals.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “compition,” “imprpve,” “qualotative,” and “mainatain.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “compete themself with others,” “do hardwork,” and “good bonding.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make the expression less fluent. Build accuracy by checking spelling and learning natural collocations, for example, “compete with others,” “work hard,” and “build strong relationships.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including subordinate clauses beginning “While,” “When,” and “If,” and most ideas remain understandable. Some grammatical errors persist, particularly with subject–verb agreement, plurals, and sentence construction. For example, “competitions has” and “cooperation remove stress” have agreement problems, while “both competitions and cooperation has” also mismatches the subject and verb. The sentence “If people cooperate with others, they can share their ideas, knowledge and skills with each others” shows an issue with the final pronoun form. To improve control, check whether subjects are singular or plural and review each sentence for agreement and grammatical patterns. More accurate complex sentences would help the range feel more controlled.
