Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that the competition at work, school and in daily life is a good thing. While other believe that we should cooperate more rather than competing against each other. But in my opinion competition makes us perform better in things than cooperation.

On one hand, the competition is a main thing thats makes us word hard to get what we want cause it provide us the motivation of working or doing things even when we do not want to. For instance when we work without any aim in mind we become lazy at it or most of the times us human beings live that task incomplete. But when the competition with other indiviual come in between we get the sense of urgency in our body and brain and we become more focus and active in that specific task just to outgrow or give our best than that specific person.Competition is the real fast way to achieving great things.

On the other hand, certain people are able to work best when they cooperate with other indiviuals and work correctly. For example, The people at office or on jobs find some great and friendly people around them and they feel good to work with them without any competition and with good intentions in order to form a great environment around them.It also increase the chances of networking and the connections with powerful indiviual give them benefits forever. Also it is very kind of human beings to connect with eachothers with good intentions and cooperating at work and in different things and helping out eachother time to time.

In conclusion:both point of views are valid to some extent and it varies person to person but from my perspsective competition is the real game.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both competition and cooperation, and your position—that competition is more beneficial—is stated in the opening and repeated in the conclusion. The examples about motivation and workplace relationships are relevant, so the response addresses the main parts of the question. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the claim that competition is “the real fast way to achieving great things” is asserted rather than supported with a specific example, and the benefits of cooperation focus mainly on a pleasant environment and networking. The conclusion says both views are valid but does not explain when cooperation might be preferable. Develop each side with a clearer reason and a concrete example, then make your final judgement more precise.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective, and the reader can generally follow the main ideas. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear because several points are joined together without showing how they relate. For example, the competition paragraph moves from motivation to unfinished tasks, urgency, and achievement in one long sequence. The opening also uses “While” and “But” as separate sentence openings in a way that makes the contrast feel fragmented. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, explain it, and then give a focused example; use linking phrases selectively rather than relying on repeated connectors.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “motivation,” “urgency,” and “networking.” Some phrases, such as “sense of urgency,” are appropriate and help explain your argument. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or awkward, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. Examples include “word hard” for “work hard,” “outgrow” where you mean outperform, and “the real game” as a vague description of competition. Spelling errors such as “indiviual,” “perspsective,” and “eachothers” also reduce accuracy. Build a bank of precise phrases for discussing advantages and disadvantages, and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “when” and “without,” and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty or difficult to follow. For example, “While other believe…” is an incomplete contrast clause, while “it provide us the motivation” has subject–verb and article errors. Agreement problems also appear in “It also increase,” and punctuation is inconsistent, particularly where sentences run together after full stops. These errors occur often enough to interrupt reading. Practise forming complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, check singular–plural agreement, and use full stops to separate ideas before attempting longer structures.
