Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
You express a relevant central view: competition can help people recognise areas for improvement, while cooperation is important in everyday life and when someone needs help. This shows some engagement with both sides of the question. However, the response addresses the task only minimally: neither view is explained with reasons or examples, and your own position is not developed beyond saying both are useful in different situations. The brief reference to competition in a group does not clarify when it is beneficial or how it compares with cooperation. The response also falls substantially short of the required minimum length, leaving the discussion and supporting detail incomplete. Develop each view in a separate paragraph, explain your opinion clearly, and add a relevant example for each side.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
There is a basic attempt to connect contrasting ideas, particularly through “on the other side” and “but,” and the response moves from competition to cooperation. However, the whole answer is presented as one long sentence, so the relationship between the points is difficult to follow. The opening claim, the comment about improvement, and the advice to help others are not separated or developed into a clear progression. Some linking is also awkward, and the final point about building good relations arrives without explanation. Use distinct paragraphs for the two views and your opinion, and connect each supporting reason directly to the claim it explains. This would make the organisation clearer and reduce the strain on the reader.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use a small set of relevant terms, including “competition,” “improvement areas,” “cooperation,” and “build good relation,” so the topic is generally recognisable. There is also an attempt to express distinctions between situations, such as competing in a group and helping someone. However, the vocabulary is limited and several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, which makes parts of the message unclear. For example, “corporation” does not convey working together, and “health activity” is not a natural description of competition. The phrase “the movement where” also appears to be an unsuitable word choice. Build a wider range of topic vocabulary and check collocations and word forms so that your ideas sound precise and natural.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to combine several ideas in a complex sentence, using contrast and conditional language, as in “if we talk about cooperation” and “whenever anyone need help.” This shows an effort to go beyond short, simple statements. However, the sentence structure is difficult to control, and errors in agreement, articles, and punctuation are evident. For instance, “anyone need” should have a singular verb, and the opening runs several clauses together without appropriate sentence boundaries. Capitalisation is also inconsistent. These issues make the argument harder to read, even though the general meaning can be inferred. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then add subordinate clauses while checking verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
