Student answer (Band 5.0)
People have different opinions regarding competition .While some argue that competition at work ,at school and in daily life is a good thing ,others believe that we should try to cooperate rather than competing against each other .Although both perspectives have their own justification , I personaly believe that cooperation is more important than competing .
On the one hand ,there are several reasons why some people support the idea of competing against each other . the main reason is that competing pushes people to their limits .This means that they will be motivated by others and that help them enhance their skills and their ability .For example ,In sport compition athletes achieve new records or gain reward due to the compition environment . I disagree with that because compition makes people selfish and less care about people.
On the other hand ,those who support cooperation and work as team rather then competing against each other argue that cooperation can united people's knowledge to solve problems that face humans . I find this argument more convincing because in real world people need to help each other and cooperate to find solution for problems since one person can't do all the job by himself . For instance all the inventions and discoveries in the medical field that help humans face all the deseas couldn't happen without the cooparetion of scientists .
In conclusion ,although both views have valid arguments , i believe that cooperation is more useful and more helpful because it help us improve and put our personal desire behind

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You discuss both competition and cooperation and state a clear preference for cooperation, so the response is relevant to the question. The competition paragraph gives a reason—competition can push people to improve—and a sports example, while the cooperation paragraph explains how shared knowledge can support medical discoveries. However, these ideas are brief and not fully developed; the claim that competition makes people selfish, for instance, is asserted without explanation. The conclusion also ends with an incomplete thought about putting personal desire behind. The response contains 238 words, so it is 12 words below the required minimum; the 22 words copied from the prompt are not counted. Develop each argument and finish the conclusion to address the task more fully.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is limited, and some connections are unclear or mechanical. For example, “I disagree with that” follows the sports example without clearly explaining which part of the argument is being challenged. The final sentence also stops before completing its idea, weakening the ending. Build clearer links between each reason and its example, and use pronouns and transitions only when their references are unmistakable.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “competing,” “cooperate,” “motivated,” “skills,” and “inventions and discoveries.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling or word-choice errors make the writing less clear or natural, such as “compition,” “personal y,” “des eas,” and “cooparetion.” Some phrases are also imprecise, including “gain reward” and “find solution for problems.” Aim to learn accurate forms and natural collocations, and vary repeated words such as “competition” and “cooperation.” More precise vocabulary would help express your arguments clearly without changing their meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in the introduction (“Although both perspectives…”) and a reason clause beginning “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “that help them enhance” has a subject–verb agreement problem, while “cooperation can united people's knowledge” uses an incorrect verb form. Articles and sentence boundaries are also inconsistent, as in “in real world” and the run-on construction around “For instance all the inventions.” Practise accurate agreement, verb forms, articles, and punctuation, then check each sentence for a complete and clearly connected structure.
