Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today world, competition and coorperation play an important role in people lives. Some people believe that competition at work, school an in daily life is beneficial, while others think that cooperation is more important. In my opinion both are necessary, But cooperation brings greater benefits in the long term.
On the one hand, compertation encourages people at work harder and achieve their goals. When students compete with each other, they often become more motivated to improve theur acedemic performance.Similarly,in the workplace, competion can encourage employees to develop new skills and become more productive.Fr example, employess may work harder to receive promotions or rewards. Therefore, healthy competition can improve confidence and personal development.
on the other hand, cooperation helps people achieve common goals by working together. It allows individuals to share thier knowledge, ideas and experience. As a result, problems can be solved more easily and efficiently. For instance, when students work on group projects, they can learn form each other and complete tasks more effectively. In addition, cooperation create a positive enviroment and develops better relationships among people.
In my opinion, althrough competition is useful for personal growth, cooperation is more valuable because success is not always about defeating others. In many situations, people can achieve better resuls by supporting one another rather than working againts each other.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and state a clear view: “both are necessary,” but cooperation brings greater long-term benefits. Relevant reasons and examples are included, such as competition motivating students and employees, and group projects helping students learn from one another. However, these points are brief and mostly general; the workplace example, for instance, mentions promotions but does not explain how competition affects wider outcomes. The conclusion restates your position without adding much development. The response is also below the required 250 words, so there is limited space to explain and support your ideas. Develop each main point with a fuller explanation or a specific example to address the task more completely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for competition and cooperation, and a concluding opinion. The signposts “On the one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” make the progression easy to follow, and examples are placed with the relevant arguments. This clear organisation is a strength. To make the flow more natural and fully controlled, avoid relying so heavily on formulaic transitions and connect some sentences through clearer referencing or explanation. For example, the move from cooperation’s benefits to “In addition” is understandable, but the relationship between a positive environment and better relationships could be explained more explicitly. Check spacing after punctuation, as missing spaces also interrupt the presentation.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “motivated,” “productive,” “common goals,” and “personal development.” These choices help distinguish the benefits of competition from those of cooperation. However, the range is limited, and several spelling errors are noticeable, including “coorperation,” “compertation,” “thier,” and “enviroment.” Some expressions are also broad or repetitive, such as “work harder” and “achieve better results.” Aim to use more precise collocations and vary repeated terms—for example, describe how cooperation enables people to “pool their expertise” or “reach shared objectives.” Proofreading spelling carefully would make your vocabulary more reliable and easier to read.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “while,” “when,” and “because,” as in “while others think that cooperation is more important” and “because success is not always about defeating others.” These structures help express contrast and reasons. However, errors in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and punctuation recur. For example, “cooperation create a positive environment” needs subject–verb agreement (“creates”), and “In today world” needs a possessive form (“today’s world”). Capitalisation is inconsistent in “But,” and several sentences run together because spaces after commas and full stops are missing. Review these patterns and proofread each sentence; greater accuracy and a wider range of controlled structures would strengthen the response.
