Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You give a clear preference for competition, stating, “In my perspective, we can learn many thing from competition,” and you offer relevant reasons, such as motivation to work hard and a student making greater efforts to reach goals. However, the task asks you to discuss both competition and cooperation, and cooperation receives only brief mention: you say people should help one another, but do not explain its benefits or develop that viewpoint. Your position is therefore only partly supported, and several claims about competition are repeated rather than explored with specific examples. The response is also 13 words below the required minimum. To strengthen the answer, explain why cooperation matters, compare the two approaches, and develop each main point with a clear example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all,” “secondly,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. However, progression within the paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and the second body paragraph moves from company success to personal development and then to a student example without clearly connecting these points. Some linking words are repeated or used mechanically, particularly “Therefore” and “It encourage[s].” The cooperation point is inserted briefly rather than integrated into the discussion. Organise each paragraph around one central idea, use clearer references between sentences, and make the relationship between examples and claims explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a basic range of topic-related vocabulary, including “competitor,” “cooperate,” “concentrate,” “development,” and “achieve our goals,” so the main subject is generally understandable. However, vocabulary is repetitive, especially “competition,” “work,” and “achieve,” and some word choices or combinations are inaccurate, such as “do competition,” “in responsible way,” and “make more efforts.” Spelling errors—including “competion,” “Therfore,” “benifits,” and “concluion”—are noticeable and reduce the accuracy of the writing. Build a wider set of natural collocations for discussing rivalry and teamwork, and proofread spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would also help distinguish healthy competition from harmful behaviour.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a conditional idea in “if someone need help so we should help him,” and you use clauses beginning with “when” and “because.” However, the range remains limited, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement (“competition play,” “it encourage,” “someone need”), missing or incorrect articles (“in responsible way”), and faulty sentence construction (“if you work or study anywere.people try to competition with you”). Punctuation and capitalisation are also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and a lowercase “secondly.” Practise accurate sentence patterns first, especially agreement and complete clauses, then add more varied complex sentences and check punctuation.
