Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some individuals believe that competitiveness at the workplace or school or in day to day life is a good think while others think that we should work together rather than competing against each other. In my opinion, competition in particular sector is necessary while coorporation helps one to get ahead in life. In this eassy I will disscuss both the views.

In one hand, Competition with fellow mates, colleagues, competitors is necessary as it makes us work on our falws which overall develops our skills. Also it helps in personal growth as we one always try to be better than other. Futhermore it helps us to analyze where do we stand currently with respect to the competitor. For exmaple, In individual sports we always try to be better than our competitor as this is the only way to win the game. Similarly when we were in school days we always tried to score more than tooper of the class which eventually increased our own marks.

On the another hand, working in coorporation has its own benefits. One of which is the work is always completed within deadlines the result of teamwork. Coorporation promotes professionalism as in corporate environment it is always suggested to work with your colleagues. In addition when a group of people try to work together the main focus is on solving problem rather than competiting with each other.

In conclusion, as competition is necessary in some sector of life as its promotes self growth and improves indivdual skills. coorporation is something that will inclut the felling of teamwork and solving problem rather than competing. In my view one should use mix of both to get ahead in life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the discussion and state a clear view: competition is useful in some areas, while cooperation also helps people progress. The examples of sports and school marks support the competition argument, and the points about deadlines and problem-solving are relevant to cooperation. However, the ideas are not developed equally: the cooperation paragraph makes broad claims without a specific example, and the conclusion repeats the main points rather than explaining when each approach is most beneficial. To strengthen the response, explain the conditions under which competition motivates improvement and when cooperation produces better outcomes, then support each with a concrete example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for the two views, and a conclusion. Its progression is easy to follow, and signposts such as “Furthermore,” “On the another hand,” and “In conclusion” help identify the stages of the argument. This meets the lower-band expectation of coherent organisation and also shows some control of paragraphing. However, the linking can feel mechanical, and some connections between ideas are not fully clear—for example, the move from teamwork meeting deadlines to professionalism is asserted rather than explained. Use transitions that show the precise relationship between points, and develop each paragraph around a clearer sequence of claim, explanation, and example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “personal growth,” “teamwork,” “competitor,” and “professionalism.” However, the range is limited and several noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, such as “coorporation,” “eassy,” “falws,” and “tooper.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, including “work in cooperation” and “the result of teamwork.” These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they make the writing less fluent and precise. Build a reliable set of collocations for this topic and proofread spelling; aim to express ideas with more exact terms rather than repeating “helps” and “necessary.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including clauses with “as,” “while,” and “when,” and the main meaning is generally clear. Some sentences are controlled, such as “In addition when a group of people try to work together the main focus is on solving problem rather than competiting with each other.” However, there are some errors in sentence structure and grammar, including “as we one always try,” “the work is always completed within deadlines the result of teamwork,” and “when we were in school days.” Articles, agreement, and punctuation also need attention, as in “solving problem” and the missing comma after introductory phrases. Review sentence boundaries and check that each clause has a clear subject and verb; this will make your varied structures more accurate.
