Student answer (Band 5.5)
Now a days, contests are becoming increasing popular everywhere. While some proponents believe that rivalry at workplace, at academia or in ordinary life is a beneficial thing, others mantain the view that we should try to assist more as compared to contesting against one another. Although collaboration are cruicial for team work, I personally believe that competition are more significant in motivating us to work harder.
On one hand, why people believe that rivalry is of paramount significance becuase it creates motivation while forcing anyone to work harder. By this i mean that, if an assigment is given to a student, he will do it just in a simple and ordinary way, but if there are grades or any trophy involved in doing this task then this student will exert his maximum effort to complete this homework in a better way. For instance, if scholarships or other awards are offered by academic institutions, then hard work is defintely done by students in order to achieve this oppurtunity. Moreover contest is so neccessary to be deal at school level because it builds our stamina and also prepare us to cope with high level of competetion in each and every sector in practical.
On the other hand, other individuals believe that cooperation builds team work and reduces overall stress and anxiety. The main reason behind this is that we can deal with complex task very easily while working i a team. For instance we can achieve better and bigger results when tackled tasks unitely.
In conclusion, Although it is a common believe that working with assistance is cruicial. I personally agree with the stance that by competing with one another we can become far mor efficu

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You discuss both perspectives and state a clear preference for competition, particularly in the introduction and conclusion. The examples about students working harder for grades, trophies, or scholarships make the motivational argument relevant. However, the cooperation side is much less developed: you mention teamwork, reduced stress, and handling complex tasks, but do not explain these benefits in detail or give a specific example. The conclusion also ends mid-thought (“we can become far mor…”), so your final position is not fully reinforced. To strengthen the response, develop both views more evenly, explain the consequences of each, and finish with a complete conclusion that directly answers the question.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. “On one hand” and “On the other hand” help signal the change in perspective, and the ideas generally follow a sensible order. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, such as “By this I mean that” and “Moreover contest is so necessary…”. The second body paragraph is brief and moves quickly from teamwork to reduced stress and then to results without fully connecting or explaining these points. The unfinished conclusion also interrupts the overall progression. Use clearer links between claims and examples, and ensure each paragraph develops one central idea before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “rivalry,” “paramount significance,” “collaboration,” and “scholarships,” which helps convey the subject. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “contests are becoming increasing popular,” “contest at workplace,” and “tackled tasks unitely.” Spelling errors such as “mantain,” “cruicial,” and “oppurtunity” are also noticeable and sometimes make reading less smooth. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than choosing formal-sounding words that do not fit the context. Proofreading spelling and using familiar collocations such as “competition in the workplace” and “work together on complex tasks” would improve clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if there are grades or any trophy involved… then this student will exert his maximum effort.” However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make the relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “collaboration are” and “competition are,” the incomplete construction “why people believe that rivalry is… because,” and the sentence fragment beginning “Although it is a common believe…”. There are also problems with articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and verb, and make sure subordinate clauses are attached to a complete main clause. Shorter, accurately controlled sentences would help before adding more complex structures.
