Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have different opinions about whether everyday competition held at work places, schools and in life should be encouraged or everyone should try to cooperate to easy others life. While both perspectives have their own merits, I believe that we should cooperate with our colleges to avoid any kind of conflicts. This essay will discuss both views before explaining my position.

Individuals who believe that competitions should be encouraged argue that these competitions prepare everyone specially children to face the real world. In other words, it helps them to train their brain to think fast in short time. For instance, test held at schools prepare students to solve a particular problem in relatively short time or competitions help at offices allows the worker to work with motivation for good performances score. Consequently, supports of this view believe that it trains the brain to think critically when a facing a difficult situation.

On the other hand, others believe that we should cooperate with our fellows. One of the advantage of this approach is that it keeps motivated workers as there is no continuous pressure of achieving something within a given time frame. For instance, the presentation which had to submitted by manager was made perfectly because rather than competing everyone helped and at the end it secured the project for the company. I find this argument more convincing because intense pressure of proving something might end up increasing pressure on individual and makin them anxious whole day. this lower the productivity and as a result company, school or even family suffers.

In conclusion, although competition might be good in some cases, but I believe that team work and cooperation is more beneficial because it helps to success not on individual level but on greaterlevel.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both sides of the question and state a clear preference for cooperation, especially in the introduction and conclusion. The discussion of competition gives relevant reasons—preparing children for real-world challenges and encouraging workplace effort—and the example of a shared presentation supports your view. This meets the task well, but the ideas are not equally developed: the benefits of competition are explained in general terms, while the cooperation example is more specific. Your own position is clear, though the claim that cooperation avoids “any kind of conflicts” is too absolute and is not fully justified. To strengthen the response, explain when competition can be constructive and develop the example or reasoning for cooperation more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph for each view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “On the other hand,” “For instance,” and “In conclusion” helps readers follow the discussion, and the ideas generally progress logically. This is a solid foundation, with some movement toward more flexible organisation. However, a few links are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Consequently, supports of this view believe” does not connect smoothly to the preceding example, and “this lower the productivity” has an unclear reference to the preceding sentence. The conclusion also repeats the main position without adding a precise synthesis. Use clearer references and connect each example explicitly to the point it illustrates.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to discuss both perspectives, including “competition,” “cooperate,” “motivation,” “pressure,” “productivity,” and “critically.” Some choices show an attempt to express more specific ideas, such as “within a given time frame” and “proving something.” However, noticeable word-choice, collocation, word-form, and spelling errors reduce precision: “easy others life,” “colleges” for colleagues, “performances score,” “supports” for supporters, and “makin” are examples. Some phrases are also unnatural, including “secured the project for the company” and “helps to success.” Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and word forms; this will make your meaning more consistently clear and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a concession in “While both perspectives have their own merits” and a reason clause beginning “because.” The overall meaning is usually understandable, and the essay has a recognisable range of sentence forms. Some grammatical errors remain, particularly in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence boundaries. Examples include “One of the advantage,” “the presentation which had to submitted,” “this lower the productivity,” and the lowercase “this” after a full stop. The opening sentence also has a difficult structure that makes the relationship between its ideas unclear. Review subject–verb agreement and verb patterns, and proofread each sentence for complete clauses and correct punctuation. More accurate control of these forms would make your complex sentences easier to follow.
