Student answer (Band 5.0)

Several individuals think that competition at work, school and in daily life is a good thing. While others believe that, we should try to cooperate more, rather than competing against each other. There are several advantages of such behaviour and some noticeable consequences as well. Everthing mentioned in the upcoming paragraph.

In this contemporary world, many individuals think that doing competition at work, school and in daily life makes them cool and look more confident in front of society, but its called showoff and also we can say jealously. Nowadays people at work doing hardwork for better salary and doing more task like working on projects and on other professional work as compare to other employers because, they want to be exceptional in every way in their life. In addition, school students competing with others childrens to score good marks in different subjects, because they get jealous and want their parents proud. Students think that, if they getting good marks they will receive the gifts or rewarded by the school authorities. Apart from these, many people also competing each other in their daily living style for example, if a person buys a new car or bike like its a proud moment for him, but another got jealous and angry because they dont have the same thing as compared to that person, so next day they will buy a same car with the same colour as well. The reason, is they want to be perfect and love to compete against people.

On the other hand, many individuals believe that rather competing against each other we should try to cooperate with them. If we talk about at working place, every employs should have to work together and try to communicate with everyone in the office. The main advantage is, work load will be reduced and and its also decrease the working hours while working togehter. Another advantage of school activity is, we can help other students to score good marks in an exam, those, who are not exceptional. while we talk about daily life activity, instead of competing each other, we can help other people to save money and give some tips about knowledge and living lifestyle to make their future bright.

To conclude, in my opinion we have to do competition with yourself not with others, instead if competing we can help them to make their better growth in their life and also its also beneficial and important for both people and environment.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You discuss both competition and cooperation, and your final view is that people should compete with themselves rather than with others. The examples about workplace effort, students’ marks and possessions show an attempt to relate the topic to everyday life. However, the response only partly develops the discussion: competition is mainly presented as showing off or jealousy, while possible benefits such as motivation or improved performance are not explored. The cooperation paragraph gives practical benefits, but these are asserted rather than explained with a specific example. Your position becomes clearest in the conclusion; state it more directly in the introduction and support both sides with balanced reasoning. The 24 words copied from the task prompt were not counted.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, separate paragraphs for the two views and a conclusion. Transitions such as “On the other hand” and “To conclude” help signal the main stages. However, progression within paragraphs is often difficult to follow because ideas are joined in long, loosely connected sentences, and linking expressions are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive. For example, “Apart from these” introduces another example without clearly connecting it to the argument, while “The reason, is” interrupts the flow. The opening also ends with the fragment “Everthing mentioned in the upcoming paragraph.” Organise each body paragraph around one clear claim, then explain and illustrate it, and use referencing and transitions more precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “cooperate,” “work load,” “professional work” and “jealous.” There are also attempts to use more specific expressions, such as “working on projects” and “school authorities.” However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal, which sometimes makes the meaning less clear. For instance, “doing competition” and “doing more task” are unnatural combinations, and “makes them cool” does not suit an academic essay. Spelling errors such as “Everthing,” “togehter” and “employs” are noticeable. Build a bank of accurate collocations for work, education and social behaviour, and check spelling and word forms during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses introduced by “because” and “while,” but complex structures are often not controlled, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to read. Examples include “While others believe that, we should try to cooperate more,” which is an incomplete contrast, and “if they getting good marks,” which lacks the correct verb form. Agreement and sentence construction are also problematic in “work load will be reduced and and its also decrease the working hours.” Punctuation is inconsistent, with commas separating subjects from verbs or interrupting clauses. Practise forming complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement and verb forms, then check each sentence for a clear main clause and appropriate punctuation.
