Student answer (Band 6.5)

There are many perspectives about working in a team. Some people agree that it should be in a Competitive way : While some of them gives the idea of working cooperatively as compared to Competition. In the paragraphs below i will explain the positive and negatives of both perspectives.

To begin with, the competition at work, at school and in daily life is really a good idea if it is in a healthy manner. For Example: a art competition in school among students can encourage them to think differently in their presentation. Moreover, competition between athlets boost them to work hard and train regularly to break the records. However, it can lead to a disaster if a person becomes obessesd with a competition that they desperitaly try to find a shortcut way which sometime result in a disaster way. For example ; a student studies 16 hour a day just to surpass his or her classmate can damage their both Mental and Physical Health.

On the Other Hand, a team working together cooperatively can solve most of the issues at ease. For Example; In the Manufacturing of a Vehicle there is a always a assembly line where everyone has their own assigned work : A Mechanic fits the Engine in the Car, A painter paints the body of the Vehicle and so on and that combined effort makes the Vehicle effeciently and in short time. On the flip side working in a team sometime limits the person to explore beyond their horizion.

In Conclusion, if the competition is being held in a healthy manner it can really helps the both sides to boost their productivity and helps them to explore their limitations.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both competition and cooperation and providing a personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the examples provided (art competitions, vehicle manufacturing) are relevant, the analysis is occasionally superficial. The conclusion is brief and does not fully synthesize the arguments presented in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, ensure that the personal opinion is clearly stated in the introduction and consistently supported throughout the essay, rather than just appearing in the conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'On the Other Hand' are used to guide the reader. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some transitions between sentences feel abrupt. Additionally, the use of punctuation, particularly the inconsistent use of semicolons and colons, occasionally disrupts the logical progression of ideas. Improving the variety and naturalness of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'manufacturing', 'assembly line', and 'productivity'. However, there are several spelling errors ('athlets', 'obessesd', 'desperitaly', 'effeciently') and some awkward phrasing ('disaster way', 'explore beyond their horizion'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, focus on mastering the spelling of common academic terms and refining collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as incorrect capitalization ('On the Other Hand', 'Example'), subject-verb agreement issues, and misuse of punctuation marks. For instance, the sentence 'For example ; a student studies 16 hour a day' contains both a punctuation error and a missing plural marker. While these errors rarely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to impact the overall accuracy of the writing.
